Zalaya's poll numbers have shot up, since this started.
The US backed out of the coup, only because of its messiness. They learned lessons after 2002. Bush giving immediate recognition yo the coup, caused problems for the US in Latin America, that hurt it today. This upstaged Obama's attempts to upstage Chavez.
It was only a vote, to determine whether to have a future congress, to rewrite the constitution from the military government. The US has intervened in Honduras militarily about 23x. This event shows again, that the colonial capitalist class is to weak, to even administer a democratic program.

If you want to go fishing you have to find water first.
Your source, Jorge Martin, has a seriously flawed view of the role of the US ambassador. Ambassador Llorens met with both Zelaya and the Congressmen opposed to Zelaya. The US favored a position in which Zelaya give up the referendum because it was illegal under Honduran law.
This is all viewed as interventional and inappropriate by Martin. However, Ambassador Llorens met with both sides, so the US was acting as a mediator. Mediators serve an important role in conflict resolution. As a mediator we proposed a compromise. Zelaya would give up the illegal referendum and have an opinion poll instead. If Zelaya had listened and refrained from attacking the Tegucigalpa airport, he would still be president.
Even though I am a staunch opponent of the Obama Administration, I would have to admit that it handled the events before Zelaya’s ouster as I would expect my government to.
It’s unfortunate that the Obama Administration now supports Venezuelan interventionism. The illegal ballots were supplied by Chavez and I hate to think about what else he will bring to Honduras. Oil money will be flowing…
Your “Permanent Revolution” has financial backing.

I don't write conspiratorial thoughts. Conspiracies have to do with chronologies. I'm a dialectical and historical materialist.
Obama doesn't support the messy methods of the putschists, but supports the goals. I think the plug was pulled on the coup at the last moment, but the oligarchy went ahead anyway.
Hillary Clinton's team is helping the coup, people like Lanny Davis.
Zalaya only has a few months left in power. Even his meager reforms as a literacy program, is too much for the historically outdated Honduran oligarchy.
It looks like there will be a general strike, later in the week. Curfews are imposed today.

Make up your mind.
You admit that Obama doesn’t support the coup and then write conspiratorial nonsense about the US ambassador (who reports to Obama).
You say that nobody counted on the masses entering the picture, but even before his ouster, Zalaya used “the masses” in a violent attempt to push through the illegal referendum.

Freedom Now: It's just an old fashion Latin American banana republic coup. Even meeting with the US ambassador at every stage. Heck bananas are Honduras's main export.
I don't understand the hurry, since Zalaya only had a few months left in his term.
Zalaya will return. Nobody counted on the masses entering the picture. Obama doesn't want a civil war. The coup has no outside support.
Atleast Lanny Davis is paid for his nonsense.

Ren,
Your comment is merely an appeal to prejudice. Its propaganda with 'connect the dots' leftwing talking points.
The referendum to change the Constitution was illegal under Honduran law and it was the right of the Supreme Court and Congress to order the military to take action under Honduran law.
Zelaya took two illegal actions:
1) A referendum not allowed under the Constitution
2) Storming a military base with a mob and attacking the security forces there, destroying public property in the process.
Its funny that you call for the storming of government buildings. Thats how Zelaya got in this mess in the first place.
Militant Socialists are only interested in exploiting the democratic process, while claiming to honor its institutions.
Viva El Che T-Shirt Revolucion!!!!

It was only going to be a referendum on whether to change a constitution written by a military dictatorship.
If Zalaya doesn't return to power, it's because he is not a socialist. He should call for occupation of the means of production, calling on the rank and file soldiers to arrest coup plotters, to storm the government buildings.
This again shows Trotsky's theory of permanent revolution correct. The colonial bourgeousie will not even grant Zalaya's meager reforms.
It was a coup, plain and simple. It was about overturning a democratic election. The country was terrorified as jets were flying low. The coup plotters weren't planning on Zalaya to call his supporters to the streets. Last Sunday about a half million people went to a demonstration. The military shot at children.
Zalaya will be back in power.
The plotters met with the US ambassador before the coup, in actual banana republic style.

As long as we're stupid enough to refine Chavez's oil, he has money. We're his enabler.
Due to the Deification Process for MJ, real news has taken a back seat. I hope the usurper doesn't get his presidency back, but we've backstabbed enough freedom fighters in recent history to tell me otherwise.

Chavez feels that he has a blank check to do as he pleases and his cronies try to emulate his behavior.
This time they were stopped.

I support the new interim Honduran governments actions 100%
They did it right. The President tried to break the law and become dictator..the rule of law was upheld and the president was fired.
I can't see how anyone could oppose the actions of the Honduran legislature and supreme court.
