Gravatar Not to discredit some of the things you have mentioned about the downplayed effect of the Latino population on American history, but there IS, as far as I can tell, an interview with a Latino serviceman in the documentary.

In the first segment, near the end, they interview a man named Bill Lansford from East LA.

Narrator: "His mother, Rosalinda Milendez, had come to California from Juarez, Mexico."

Lansford: "As a boy I was not really aware of the Anglo world at all . . . principally I lived in Latino neighborhoods and, uh, spoke spanish at home . . ."

. . .

Narrator: "At first, like many Latinos, he did not feel entirely welcome in the marine corps."

Lansford: "I think it was a little Texas in the Marine Corps."

and so on . . .

Gravatar The interview with Mr. Lansford was only added after much protest. Initially Burns wanted it to run after the credits and did not want it included in the DVD.

Some historian.
