Gravatar I feel like I just saw Robert at World Cafe Live... Sounding like Dylan and Springsteen combined in an old 60's coffee shop. He was having trouble keeping his guitar tuned that day, but at the end of the show, he was talking about coming back in January. I called Bill Eib right after the show to tell him how great it was to see Robert on stage in Philadelphia again.

I worked with Robert quite often back in the day, photographing him many times at Graham Studios when it was in Collingswood. We did so many shoots together. Big BBQ parties at his Medford Lakes home, canoes used as coolers filled with assorted brews. We all had a blast at his wedding at the Zoo. I was just talking to John Lily from the Hooters about his days as Robert's guitarist. It just can't be that Robert is gone now.

One of my fond memories of Robert was when Philadelphia Magazine did a story on Celebrities's Children. His daughter Corina (sp?) came in with the sexiest black corset, fishnets,Zipper Head style black boots, and crazy jewelry. She looked incredible. After the magazine came out, I ran into Robert and he gave me holy hell for allowing Philly Mag to dress her that way. He would not accept that they were here clothes.

Well the escalator came too quickly for Robert, although he managed to packed one helluva life into those 59 years.

Gravatar Wow, I really knew very little about Robert Hazard up til now. I admit that previously, my sole knowledge of his work was "Escalator of Life" (whose video actually gave me nightmares as an MTV-addicted 7 year old).

Never knew he wrote "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun." Thanks for schooling me....

Gravatar thanks for this bruce, i hadn't heard that sad news yet. RIP Robert.

Gravatar My favorite songs were co-written by Robert Hazard and Tommy Conwell: Love's On Fire and Everything They Say is True, both recorded by Tommy's Young Rumblers. RIP.

Gravatar love this.

Gravatar Wow. Had no idea.
I was just ripping some old Phila. singles (Alan Mann Band, Pretty Poison, etc.) to post on my blog and Robert Hazard popped into my head. Hadn't heard him in forever so went looking and found this.
How sad.
