Gravatar Exactly.

Gravatar don't forget Shawn Johnson. That child is 16 but has more poise than almost anyone I know. She has the grace and dignity to congratulate her competitors when she really deserved to win. I would be curled up in a ball sobbing "I didn't get the gold! waaaaah!"

A friend of mine competed in the 1976 Olympics. Her mother never lets her forget that she didn't win a medal. I watch the games and think, she GOT THERE. How amazing is that?!

Gravatar Amen to all your thoughts here, Jane. I admire the aspiration toward excellence, but 'winning at all costs' means something important has gone wrong, and no victory attained will be as true and pure as one where grace remains and all things were considered.
