Gravatar What seems interesting to me about this entry, apart from the laudable quote by the late Sir Winston Churchill, is that some 30 days on, I am the only person who seems to have felt that it deserved any sort of comment at all. Where is Churchill in the Modern Britain? It seems to me that he has been relegated to the history books- a de-fanged lion doting benevolently on a society obviously in decline. The silence of your fellow Britons, to my way of thinking, speaks volumes here.

Gravatar In fact I posted it over a year ago. The blog was brand-new and the Haloscan facility wasn't yet enabled.

Gravatar I fear that if Sir Winston were alive today he would be seriously wondering if 'it' was worth the sacrifice.

A lot of the freedoms that were hard fought for have given away by a population only too willing to put up with 'Executive Convenience' for the sake of a quiet life. Don't understand what I'm getting at?

The Serious Organised Crime and Police Bill.

In Sir Winston's time you didn't need permission to protest.

Gravatar Part and parcel of what Churchill said, as you quote him, is that there is also a duty to punish.
