Don't often hear people referring to 'Male nurses' any more, presumably it's a job that's lost a lot of it's gender conotations since I (and presumably Sir Ron) trained. When people used to ask me how long I'd been a male nurse I used to reply that I'd been a nurse since 1983 and male since 1964.
I've no idea how successful Sir Ron will actually be, managing Her Majesty's Court Service, as I never heard of him until today. Given how complicit nurses are in mismanaging the NHS, I'd say it didn't bode well though.

I accept your point about the gender of nurses. It's a generations thing, isn't it?
In future, Sir Ron shall be a former nurse as far as I am concerned.

The date is the giveaway: I almost believed in Sir Ron.

"will seek to improve the efficiency of the courts system - whatever that means."
It means more paperwork.

Sir Ron is indeed a former nurse, but rose through the ranks as quite a few nurses (mostly men..) do, to become Chief Exec of a large London NHS Trust hospital.
I make no comment on his performance (2 years from the original blog entry) at HMCS. I just wanted to say that you shouuld never sneer at nurses. We have catheters and bedpans as our weapons.
