Do you ever feel like just giving up on the whole mess? I don't know how you go on with it, I really don't.

Gravatar Hi bystander

As I said over on NHS BLOG DOCTOR, I would not feel too bad about the schizophrenics who get sent to jail inappropriately.

Contrary to popular belief the overwhelming majority of schizophrenics are sad, pathetic helpless people and are harmless. They have been largely deserted by the NHS. Prison gives them a roof over their head, a place of safety and food, often better food than hospitals.

The care of schizophrenics is something with which I am particularly concerned.

If any of your readers would like to know what schizophrenia is REALLY about, please read a post I did on Emma, who was a friend of mine. Emma developed schizophrenia as a teenager.

Gravatar Had a similar one in today - young man just back from Iraq with PTSD. Acting very strangely in a bar and ends up assaulting two men. It appears that the army have not offered him any treatment apart from a medical discharge, so what do you have in the box? Probation would not like him as he's not suitable for community punishment or rehab (Too specialised for anger management) - You could keep him indoors for a couple of months

Another case for good old Cond Discharge

Nice to make a difference?

Gravatar "as" you do, old fruit, not "like" you do.
