I agree however are you aware of something called the HOCR? To ensure all forces record crime in the same way the respected department known as the Home Office introduced a document which has all but destroyed our discretion.
If someone reports something to the police it will be taken as a crime report. With the R word being used this will undoubtedly mean a thorough investigation will have to be carried out.
You may now think that it will be okay as no crime has actually been committed. However the madness continues and we HAVE to record this incident as a "non-crime racist incident", requiring the same amount of investigation.

PC Midland.
What some commentators appear to forget is that after 10years of Labour Government we have the Police Force (Oops) Service this Government wants.
Can I suggest those who complain take the issues up with the Government because it is they who have "micromanaged" the system and produced the "targets" required.
Things can only get better.

Since when did common sense and attending to more important matters stop any officer above sergeant from doing a bit of career boosting publicity?

Would it be a crime though.
The BB house is a dwelling and anything that was said was addressed at another occupant of the dwelling so the Public Order Act and any racially aggravated offences committed under it cannot apply.

Yorkshire Lawyer.... you are indeed right, but unfortunately for the police, the rules on dealing with racial incidents dictate that such incidents will be recorded and investigated... they make no mention of the inconveniences of actual recordable crimes. And remember, an incident is a racial incident if ANY person perceives it to be racially motivated... no mention of suspect or victim there. 40,000 people appear to have had such a perception, and it only takes 1 to report it to the police to trigger an investigation. I'd say the odds are that at least 1 out of the 40,000 will make such a report. Taxpayers of Hertfordshire... get used to the idea that you will have a couple of officers less for quite a few weeks sorting this one out!!

It's a workplace, not a dwelling. If that was filmed happening on a factory floor, REC would be all over it like Fern Britton on a cheesecake.

Within 6 months the thing in question will be touring india visiting orphans with a camera crew. She had 6 pages of the NOTW on Sunday, she is already famous for being pigshit thick, this will do her media career no harm.
As for Police investigation, the more often people make complaints because of what they have seen on telly the more ridiculous these rules will be shown to be.
I think that muslim PC refusing to shake Blairs hand sounds likea racist incident, if anyone has nothing better to do, make a complaint to the Met, the results would be very entertaininging

The Public Order Act may not apply but I'm sure some CPS lawyer will try to make out a case of racially aggravated harassment.
I've got better things to do that investigate rubbish like that thankfully!

Correct me if I'm mistaken, '9 years to go', but I'd rather gained the impression that not only Muslim officers might have reservations about shaking hands with Sir Ian.

spenders Taxpayers of Hertfordshire... get used to the idea that you will have a couple of officers less for quite a few weeks sorting this one out!!
having lived in herfordshire for more over 10 yrs i can assure people that we wont have to get used to the idea we are already used to it the top officers have already in the last 3 yrs closed 4 major police stations turning the biggest one into a police training centre closed 6 (4 of these are the closed stations) staion cell blocks and using only 1 as a reserve they send 1 car out to each town each day so if more than 2 officers are needed your waiting for a fair period waiting for the other cars to come from the next town so really i dont think it will make any difference.
as for the actual incident in question can i just comment that if 40,000 poeple are complaining then this country really does have a couch potato problem and if its a racist comment then turn your telly of rather than actually watching it surely the less people watch the ratings decrease then the problem goes as they will cut the programme although they will probably put somother degrading self promoting programme on.
this next paragraph is strictly my opinion
whilst im against racism she placed herself in a position where she was going to get some critism whilst i feel for her to a certain degree i also feel that by placing herself in the house she was going to get problems as people are entitled to freedom of voice and opinion (although probably not for much longer if we keep a labour government)
the cultural difference there is people arent especially miss goddy arnt able to deal with the difference i think the problem is with the creators for making the situation surely if any one shuld take the rap for what happened it should be them
i agree the police should leave this one well enuff alone surely the humiliation she has caused herself is a big enuff punishment for her i mean she done it once with big brother then again this time with bb celebrity surely we should expect stupidity from her

If Germaine Greer's take on this in the Guardian is to be believed (and Christ was she in a catty mood when she wrote that!) then there was a certain amount of blame on both sides. We really do need to rethink the grounds for calling an incident racially aggravated...
