I assume that the usual rules will apply - ie politicians and political advisers rewarded and promoted whilst those poor individuals at the coal face who had an impossible task will be blamed and sacked.

Gravatar Hey - it worked for Ali G, so Tony had to give it a shot!

Gravatar Well that top-notch website probably cost them around £3m at the going governmental rate.

Gravatar For once I am in total agreement with you.

Gravatar But what will happen to the ‘Respect Awards’?
How will we survive without them?

Gravatar The Respect agenda read like the campaign for mayor of an American city. From creating an equivalent to "311" non-emergency police numbers to having police crack down on apparent offences of the most minor sort with minimal transparency, I think that Tony Blair was even more of a poodle of Rudy Giuliani or Richard M. Daley than of George W. Busghh.

Gravatar The Respect agenda was nonsense, but I still think that a non-emergency number for the police was a good idea, if it would have reduced the number of people making unnecessary 999 calls.

Gravatar Richard75 - but did it? One has to wonder if that's one of the things that fails. Off the top of your head, can you remember the non-emergency number? I know I can't. Saw it printed on umpteen vehicles, I know it was 0800.... something.

Personally, I've just delved into the phone book and looked up "Police" when I didn't want to dial 999. They all have a local number anyway.

Gravatar And which idiot thought that you can *demand* respect? It's something you have to earn.

Gravatar @ Bystander:

'Bollocks'.

Is this some sort of new technical term?

Am I slightly out of date here?

Perhaps 'Bollocks has superseded the older, and slightly more formal expression, 'Testicles'.

Gravatar You arer slightly out of date, I've just used the word "bollocks" in a written submission to court and won. The magistrates agreed the plaintiffs case was bollocks (they used pathetic, though)
