Gravatar lets not foget his recent felony (he made champaign calles for the republican cloak room in congress...federal room beign used for campaign perposes is a big nono)

Gravatar 200? Try more than 150,000 lives of the troops currently there or the number of troops who served tours but are now back home.

Gravatar Hubris, didn't he get a nice rug out of that? :o)

In fact, if bush can somehow sustain the shitmire, with 6 visits there, and counting, McCain might wind up with a pretty good Meospotamian artifact collection, even if it is modern.

Of course, realistically, the window on congressional "show the flag" junkets appears to be closing, as we speak. :o)

Gravatar Stick a fork in him, he's done. The Rethug primaries will be all about Romney or Ghouliani. Man oh man oh man I hope they nominate the latter.

Gravatar Couldn't happen to a more deserving asshole.

Gravatar More than an embarrassment.

I count him and Lieberpuss as delusional.

Gravatar blksista: Lieberpuss wants war with Iran, that makes him a psychopath

Gravatar McCain should borrow some dignity on a payday loan and get out before he becomes the topic of late night television monologues.

Sometimes candidates are undermined by their opponents. McCain undermined himself.

Gravatar I'm actually in awe right now. To see a campaign go down so ... spectacularly, I am just speechless.

I almost feel bad for him ...

Almost.

Gravatar The man lost any respect way back when bush was running the first time and insulted mccain't in that debate, SC I think. That he didn't verbally smack down that idjit then and proceeded to suck up to him ever since, is beyond anything that could be considered as a leader of anything.

Last November or so, when he appeared with liarman at AEI, reading their scripted speeches; that was the end of his campaign really. No one bought that crap then and now we see the result of pure and blatant lie based campaigning. Buh bye. Not only is his campaign over, but most likely, his entire political career. I hope.

Gravatar The hell with him. He decided that his ambition was more important than his self-respect, so, too bad, see ya later.

Gravatar I have a difficult time understanding where all of that money goes. Without TV advertising, someone must be pocketing a lot of cash.

Gravatar .......someone must be pocketing a lot of cash.

McCain was one of the Keating Five........ could be a wandering hands situation!

Hopefully this debacle will force the old fool to quit politics and leave the rest of us alone.

Gravatar Pa' fuera!

Gravatar I guess risking the lives of 200 guys just to prove your political point wasnt a good idea.

Any bets that the Repubs will interpret this to mean that McCain just didn't risk enough poor grunts' lives to be 'credible'? "Gee, if only he'd had a few dozen more flankers in body armor, *that* would have convinced all the cut-n-runners!"

Gravatar (he made champaign calles for the republican cloak room in congress...federal room beign used for campaign perposes is a big nono)

Ay, leave the guy alone, after a hard day on the Senate floor, I'm sure he really needed a few swigs o' the bubbly! :D

Gravatar If you say it with a strong emphasis, it means "Get the FUCK out".

Gravatar Talk about someone getting what he deserves. Instead of endorsing Kerry and getting Chimpy out of the White House, McCain decided to hitch his ambition to the Bush gravy train. He hired loyal Bushies, who proceeded to spend his campaign into bankruptcy.

I read that Terry Nelson was operating on the assumption that McCain would raise $120 million by the Iowa caucuses, about $50 million in the first half of 2007. So they budgeted for about $24 million in spending during the first half of this year. And they managed to spend that much without putting a single tv ad on the air anywhere!

Trouble was, his fundraising couldn't keep pace, partly because of the right-wing hate machine's anti-immigrant bigotry.

People, we got lucky on this one. The media would have kept carrying McCain's water forever if he hadn't hired such inept and corrupt campaign managers.

Gravatar Look at Bush raise a finger to help McCain...oh that's right...even Republicans hate Bush now. They are all bowing before the patron saint Ronnie Reagan's dessicated corpse.

This whole scene would be comical if it weren't accomplished with the deaths of hundreds of thousands.

Gravatar I'm still astonished....McCain was THE establishment candidate. WTF happened?

So the primary, evidently, is going to be Romney (!) and Thompson (!!)....McCain has no money, and doesn't look likely to raise enough funds to run for statewide office, let alone national office. Giuliani is dead in the water, as per LM's guided tour of Rudy's particular level of hell....so it's the Mormon and the Actor, almost by default....and I can't see the GOP base voting for a Mormon (hell, we've only ever had one Catholic President), so I guess Lawnorder Fred is it?

Can Brownback, Tancredo, or the Huckster pull off a dark horse candidacy? Ron Paul bwahahahahahaha never mind.

So I guess the Democratic primary is going to be pretty intense, eh?....thankfully it's been relatively clean so far....(knock on wood)

Gravatar I do have to give McCain credit for being the only Republican candidate to be against torture. Although that is probably only because he was tortured himself.

What is it with Republicans and their appalling lack of empathy? They can come out for a sensible policy on issues that have affected them personally (Nancy Reagan and stem cell research, McCain and torture) but they cannot extend this to help people that they do not know personally.

And then they'll sit back and say, "Of course, I don't want to have to waterboard anyone, and in an ideal world, we wouldn't have to. But you have to be realistic here - it's a hard thing to do, but we have to do it" And then they congratuate themselves for being able to make the hard decisions that us Democrats are just too sensitive and emotional to make.

They see themselves as Travis having to shoot Old Yeller because the dog has rabies. It's not because they want to, but because it's necessary, and a man does what is necessary, even though he hates having to do it. In truth, they just spent the first 3/4 of the movie throwing rocks at the dog until they managed to break three of its legs. Now they just ran to get their rifle, 'cause it will be too much trouble to heal a lame dog, and you know in a week they'll be running to their friends saying "...and when I pulled the trigger his head just...."

OK, so that's an analogy that got away from me, but you get the idea
