Gravatar Obama is weaseling on this. I'm disappointed, but not surprised.

Gravatar He said he is going to fight to get the immunity part out of the bill though...

Gravatar Obama better fucking mean it. I am sick and tired of these so-called Progressives that go to Washington and become part of the club.

Gravatar Wengler, I am too . . . we need to get rid/impeach of Pelosi, Reid and Hoyer to start with.

And if Obama don't cut it, we need to protest him loudly and strongly, and impeach HIS ass too, if he don't do what we elect him to do.

No more slack, it's change or suffer the progressive blowback for not doing the job we got them elected to do.

Gravatar Obama had better reverse himself on this. Remember, if he wins these are the powers he'll reserve for himself. My worst fear is that he'd be the American Tony Blair, and this just drives that fear home.

I just unsubscribed from the DCCC mailing list because of an e-mail "from" Pelosi, explaining that I didn't want e-mails from traitors to their oath to defend the Constitution.

Gravatar "And if Obama don't cut it, we need to protest him loudly and strongly, and impeach HIS ass too, if he don't do what we elect him to do."

Exactly. Obama's supporters have to make it clear to him, here and now, that retroactive immunity and a continuation of warrantless wiretapping are completely unacceptable (not to mention useless when it comes to national security). As a Constitutional scholar and someone with educated reality-based supporters, Obama should know better than to weasel on this one.

If this issue is as important to you as it is to me, take a few moments today to express your views directly to the Obama campaign. In a close race where every vote, every donation, every volunteer hour counts, they will listen if enough of us write.

Gravatar And yes, fuck Pelosi and Reid. Hoyer is who he is: the sort of pandering dimwit you'll find on both sides of the House aisle. But Pelosi and Reid are so addled by Beltway-itis that they forgot the meaning of the word "majority" as soon as the Dems achieved it in Congress.

With real majority leaders, we'd have been in the midst of impeaching Bush and Cheney instead of confirming some of their most anti-American policies.

Gravatar Is it too late now?

Gravatar Judging by Obama's reaction yesterday to the FISA bill, it appears he's just as practiced at slinging the BS as any of us Boomers.

Don't get me wrong: I put the blame squarely where it belongs, on the Congressional leadership. But this should serve as a sobering reminder of Obama's ability and willingness to go to the mat on an important issue.
