honestly this is why I am hoepign that Obama taps soem republicans...spacific republicans for cabnit seats....McCain for vet affairs, olympia snow for soemthing....every senete seat is important, if we can grab 2-3 extra and kill any hopes of a fillibuster for at least two years through apointemtns...espicaly apointments that owe everythign to Obama...well things will get done.

Gravatar mcCain will not take an appointment, especially not a minor appointment from obama. first, he has seniority and clout in the senate. second, arizona has a democratic governor, janet napolitano, who would proceed to cost the rethugs another seat.

he'll stay in the senate and try to salvage his legacy and reputation like goldwater did.

Gravatar I grew up with those crazy Sesame Street counting segments and had no idea they had such an awesome jazz pedigree. Thanks for the credits!

Gravatar Well stated Jesse, thank you.

And thanks for the music vid, who knew that was Gracie bringing down the house on Sesame Street.

Gravatar Vet Affairs will likely go to Tammy Duckworth.

I hope. She'd be WONDERFUL.

Gravatar Sorry Jesse, Im from upstate Il, still remember the battles of 06, still not a Duckworth fan.

Gravatar This is a good one, Jesse.

Thank you, from a former Seattleite. Your work (and your work *history*) is appreciated.

Gravatar VA needs to go to a woman.

It's about fracking time rape/sexual assault got some damn visibility.

Tammy's a combat vet (she intentionally became a pilot as it's one of the few fields where she KNEW she could get combat), a double-AK amp, and has the confidence of the President-Elect. She's fucking PERFECT.

I'd have to look, but off the top of my head I don't think the gig has EVER been held by a woman. About goddamn time. Seriously.

Gravatar i think she'd be great.

i had no idea about the sesame segment. my daughter was born in 73 and she grew up with that.

me? i bought the anniversary addition. so did she. now my little granddaughter watches.

Gravatar Brrrilliant.

Gravatar I think if Obama can perform his usual political ju-jitsu on those Republicans who attempt to thwart his good plans and paint them as obstructionists who apparently have the opposite of the good of the country as their goal, he should not only be able to get most of his packages through but be able to further reduce Republican numbers regardless of Congressional Democrats occasional inability to get out of their own way (cf. Lieberman).
