Why does Maliki hate the troops?
Are we going to start hearing the Mighty Wurlitzer honking about Maliki being a traitor, defeatist and appeaser for saying that Obama's timetable is a realistic goal?

Allawi campaigned for Bush. Iraqi stooges just aren't what they used to be. But with Sadrists running on a different list in the provincial elections in August, this move is about as predictable as a Bush administration lie.

It's clear that only white men know what is needed to defeat the terrists.

Wengler's all over it.
Right now, Sadr has reined in his troops.
And, the ONLY reason I can see him supporting Al Maliki is it helps rid Iraq of 'foreigners' which makes HIM look good to his supporters.
But Sadr and Al Maliki are two VERY different kinds of Shia . . . and I suspect Sadr is just waiting to push and prod here and there, and then, he WILL make a play for Iraq in its entirety.
And Al Maliki won't stand a chance.
But that's after we're out, for the most part.
Till we DO go, there's a LOT of jockeying going on to have access to the oil and gas development.
There's at LEAST three Shia parties (Al Maliki's groupings, The South's Al Sistani groupings, and Sadr.)
And then there's the Sunni's, and the Kurds.
There's LOTS of action to come, but OUR job is to get the hell out and save our troops!
Let the rest of them sort it out.
I'm sure we can do business with any winners in the ME, as well if not better than China and Russian can . . .
But if we raise hell up, and DON'T get out, they will ALL be focused on USA, Iraqi's, Shia's, Sunni's, Kurds's and China and Russia.
Great blogging BTW, folks, I'm just not catching up on all sites . . . this is as good as any of the best coverage to date!
