John Doone? Well, maybe that's the correct pronunciation, but I've seen it only as John Dunne (I have an old, privately-printed version of his translation of Boccaccio's [the father of the dirty joke] Decameron, complete with naughty ancient engraved illustrations. Wheeee!).

It is indeed spelled Donne. I have corrected it on the post and added a link to Wikipedia.
Thank you everyone. GNB regrets the error.

John Donne, as in Van's "Rave On John Donne." Pronounced "dun". Not all gloomy, not by any means.

i enjoyed the hell out of donne's earlier stuff, before he became a complete and total tightass.
sorry, but i have a hard time with this whole "hug" thing. i come from a people who value our personal space. apaches are not big huggers. i've tried to overcome this aversion, unsuccesfully. still, i understand the sentiment.

I love the Free Hugs video. It's one of the videos I go watch whenever I'm feeling really down.

A bit of trivia, the fifth hugger is Bob Harris, one of my other favorite bloggers.

read JD in high school and had no.fing.clue what the hell it was about, truly. then read again in college, still not completely there yet.
JD to me is like Chopin. Needed alot of more life experience to truly savor, understand and feel it. Just like life itself.
