Gravatar Oh gawd: Freddy as Fin Fang Foom! That was scary perfect, LM, in addition to being a major blast from the past. (I think that was the very first Marvel comic I bought, long ago, when I was but a tender young Fate.)

Alas for Not-Quite-Dead Fred, mole for the Nixon WH, lousy senator, so-so lobbyist, and third-rank character actor whose dramatic range makes Gabby Hayes look like Monty Clift.

Gravatar "Fred and...Fin Fang Foom: Separated at Birth?"

Fred as "Fin Fang Snooze"!

Rudy Giuiliani as "Dr. 9/11 Doom!"

Mitt Romney as "Mormtron"!

John McCain as "The Mandarin Candidate"!

And Ron Paul as "The Impossible Man"!

The Avengers really have their work cut out for them now!

'Nuff said, true believers! Excelsior!

Gravatar "Fred and...Fin Fang Foom: Separated at Birth?"

So are you trying to say that Fred's ill conceived run was a...Journey Into Mystery?

And Mitt Romney = "The Beyonder" or "The Stranger" more likely...

Gravatar Sweet Christmas! How did I ever forget Mike Huckabee as "The Redneck Skull"?!

Also Alan Keyes as "Moses Skullnumb"!

All-New! All seven! MASTERS OF EVIL 2.O!!! In our pulse-pounding Avengers Annual, wayfarers!

'Nuff said, true believers! Excelsior!

Gravatar DG, Mitt gets called robotic all the time, so Ultron seemed the obvious choice to me--although granted, Ultron is much smarter.

Point granted.

I'm trying to stay away from my Marvel Universe and DC Universe bookmarks, or it's gonna be a LONG night...

Gravatar I finally quit comics several months ago. [US comics, anyway; I still buy a few manga collections.] If I see an interesting TPB of my old favorites, I'll probably buy that, too, but I got to where I didn't have the time or the money to keep up with the complexities of modern superhero comics. I've got stacks that I still haven't read yet because I'd rather surf the Web now.

It's strange how you can love something for years and then you just lose the feeling.

Gravatar Ivory Bill_

I empathize with you-I have about 4500 of em from the late 70's to early 90's sitting in my garage (boxed and bagged, of course)...when my habit began creeping into the hundred dollar a month range it just began to be too much. The bottom's fallen out of the market in the last few years, and I don't wanna give 'em away, so I hang on to 'em.

With the current storylines in both the Marvel and DC Universes (courtesy of the Web), I'm not absolutely sure I want to go back to collecting anymore.

Anyway, I'm still holding out for Fred Thompson as Ego, the Living Planet :-P

Gravatar IBW and Deacon G.

I have a post coming this week on comics that you should love.

Keep your eyes peeled, True Believers!

'Nuff Said!

Gravatar What is it with the GOP and actors? And shit ones at that.

Ray gun and fred are one character actors, type cast from birth. Tough guy cowboy persona.

They are like those men that refuse to accept they are gay, get married have kids and just fuck up everyone elses lives.

Not an ounce of self reflexivity,

Gravatar Florida may be different because Fred won't have the draw against Huck toward Lucas McCain, with Jelloni in the race, in which case Huck may pull off an upset, or so I'm hoping.

Gravatar Damn your ass LoLo - you insult Mr. Foom and get Ivory Bill (if that really IS his name) and the Deacon all nostalgisized about halcyon days of yore.

Ya caint fuk wit Da Doctor lik dat!!!

I got my "44 Years Of The Fantastic Four Collector's Edition DVD" sitting right next to me as I type this and I'm gonna give myself a booster shot. Wu Tang style!!!

P.S. - That link to "Frog & Toad" caught me off guard - (a chuckle & a tear or two - WTF) - been a while since I've gazed on the Big Fella's countenance.

Gravatar Deacon G: this current story line comment has me confused...haven't read marvle in years...soem one mentioned that they where doing something BIG and Ishould look into them...looked on the web. I read secrate wars and acts of vengance the first time round, why would I want it rehashed?

Gravatar I think what you're looking for is the Marvel Universe Civil War .

Basically, the Mutant Registration Act (which was coming on strong when I quit reading in the early 90's) has now become the Superhero Registration Act, which gets a lot of the heroes' knickers in a serious twist.

Either that or the upcoming dissolution to Spider-Man's marriage to MJ (and the concurrent fucking up of the entire Spider-Man continuity).

I only read about this shit fom some comic blogs and Wikipedia. I won't even get into what I discovered while taking a romp through the Wikipedia in the DC Universe...erk...

Gravatar Deacon G: the civil war crap...the yrun that story line ever 5 years or so...

any day know it will turn out that the big proponents where scree agents for a nother big revilation

Gravatar Or that the big proponents at Marvel were sinister shape-changing Skrulls working for DC.
