Here's the scenario that I posted earlier today
1. 2000, McCain gets screwed out of the presidency by Bush/Rove and, who else, Darth Cheney.
2. 2008 McCain's cancer returns and this time he knows he's not going to make it so this is his last shot at the White House.
3. Cheney, working through the RNC tells McCain that they'll guarantee him the 2008 Election if Cheney gets to pick the VP candidate.
4. McCain agrees to the deal.
5. Cheney selects Palin, someone so totally without experience there is no way she could execute the office of President if called upon to do so.
6. McCain wins as promised
7. McCain's cancer kills him shortly into his first term.
8. Palin is sworn in as President and needs to pick a VP
9. well you've guessed by now who that is. Cheney once again is the de facto president, and it is foisted off on the public as necessary because he has the experience.

Alder, that's exactly where I'm comin from.
Given Maggi Jo's McCain Medical History info, and what the general population knows about melonoma, he's a dead man walking.
And Palin is a MUCH more malleable stooge than Bush . . . she don't got a family of generations of power and control.
But ya gotta ask yerself ONE question.
Will Cheney hisself last to see this thru?
After all, the entire Bush Family and their sphere of influences are likely real pissed at Cheney for helping to destroy their empire . . .
And there's ample evidence that Bush and Cheney are estranged . . . . and have been.
The House Of Bush has history Cheney and the neocon's don't . . . and Cheney and The Neocon's have at times, tossed BoyKing under a bus or two.
So, it's spy v spy . . . ya know? *G*

Alder: Palin becoming VP and picking Cheney as the new VP was indeed something that crossed my mind last week. Then I looked it up and saw that, apparently, in such a case, the new Preznit needs the Congress to vote to approve his VP pick. In which case, notably with at least a 50% Dem Congress, there's no way they would vote for Cheney. Unless she picks Buchanan or J. Dobson first, then has to dump him after a No from Congress, and she goes for someone "less controversial".
Now, if someone else can confirm that indeed the new president can't just pick the VP but there's a serious confirmation process where a Cheney pick can be killed.

God, guys, there is no way that the repubs want Dick Cheyney within miles of the GOP ticket.
Come on. If they could, they'd put he and bush so far back in the bunker they'd have to feed them with a slingshot.
Palin is THE key. She's a pretty face, and having the face say the same old failed conservative bullshit, is just what the fundies who've taken over the republican party want to see and hear.
There is no way that what is happening on Wall Street, and the rest of our economy, is going to benefit the repubs.
And right now, it looks like the Iraqi "government" is still telling bush to fuck off, about long-term bases and sweetheart deals for goatboy's petro-buds.
Gonna be a long 6 weeks, if you're a gooper. :o)

"Gonna be a long 6 weeks, if you're a gooper."
A long 6 weeks in which to refine further their already-unmatched skills in voter suppression and vote fraud. Mark Crispin Miller suggests in a recent essay that the real reason Palin was chosen was to provide a plausible cover story that "the Christian Right won it for McCain", to back up the "not enough white voters would vote for a black man" cover story.

she is a theocrat and would have the rule of law suspended within days of takeing office, no need for congresional approval when congress is disbanded.
Monster from the Id: Hey eyeor, too many dem sec of state folating aroudn for this one to be stolen...it may get close due to votere supresion, but it wont get stolen.

Harry S Truman didn't pick a veep in his first term. So there is a precedent of not selecting one unless the law has been changed.

If she were to take pages from the book of the real Count Dracula, perhaps she would be known to history as "Sarah the Im-Palin'"?

Occam's Razor. I think everyone is over thinking Cheney's supposed role and Palin's potential for destruction.
There are steps to be taken before suspending the status quo and declaring martial law. I believe we still have enough secular people in the Pentagon that any kind of coup would be curtailed, not to mention that Palin knows nothing of the workings of our national government and how to go about it. Those crony lobbyists left over from McCain would not benefit from a coup. Radical changes always hurt business.
A bit of good news related to Cheney's power. Apparently, Cheney has been estranged far more than has been apparent since the justice department near fiasco involving warrantless spying in 2004. It turns out that Cheney had kept Bush out of the loop. Bush then finds out the day before papers have to be signed that several of his top officials were ready to resign over the illegal actions, so he completely reverses himself at the eleventh hour, saving his Presidency. Since then, Cheney has been kept at a distance--it's not that he's been hiding that we hear nothing from him--it's that Bush has been ignoring him!

Bush may be able to cover his and the GOP's asses by handing the keys to the U.S. Treasury (What's left of it) to Wall St. but there are a fuck of a lot of hard-eyed gnomes and other people with power and influence in the world who understand that this is basically just printing more 1928 Reichsmarks.
Of course, the nanosecond that Obame and the dems take office, EVERYthing will be their fault.
Just how stupid are the american people?
We're about to find out.
I hope they know the answer to the question.
