change coem slwo to america....for too many years politics has been about disempowering, and demotivating citizans...get otu the fanatics adn keeep every one else in a high state of apathy. This is all aranged to keep the status quoe in power...that crew dosn't include minorities or women, that is why we have never had a female president..notice we did have serious contenders in the 60/70's then it all vanished in the 80s/90's...regan had us take a giant step backwards,...clinton slowed down the trip to the past but didn't stop it...we regressed as a nation.

Yes, it will probably take until 2024 to recover from the damage done by the behavior of the woman candidate.
Of COURSE we will have a woman President and of COURSE there are women qualified to be President. It will happen. FIRST we have to tend to the issues at hand which, in the end, facilitate forward progress for all, including women.
A study from the White House Project looked at why women don't run and found two main reasons: Women are less likely than men to view themselves as qualified and are also less likely to receive encouragement to run for office from party leaders, elected officials and political activists. (from the article)
This morning on "morning joe" (blow), the lone woman on that show, Mika, said something that I found just jarring. A true WTF moment.
Mika was reading in the newspaper with that other guy a story about "hypermilers" and did this "I don't get it" bit, THEN asked the guy to read it and tell her about it. He expressed some surprise and she SAID "Well, you're the boy. You figure it out" and let us know.
Mika, on a cable news show, exemplifies the EXACT behavior that men expect. Be smart, but not too smart. Be competent, but not too competent. And to accomplish that feat, make sure to defer at regular intervals..... which she does over and over.
It made me sick that a woman on national television promotes this fucked up behavior. Yes, its a BIG mind fuck but there ARE MEN who actually ENJOY the hell out of woman who are smart and competent and DON'T have to temper it to feed the male ego. Real men exist. There really are men out there who support women in being who they are, just NOT on MSNBC's Morning Joe! They need to PULL that show and FIRE Mika. I'm sure she's a smart woman, but feeding this horrible construct does nothing to help solve the problem. Feh.
Though women can argue that at least there's a female presence on that show, I call bullshit on that because of her behavior.
Mika.... NOT HELPFUL!!!!!

This looks good.
Thank you for posting this, tlg.
And thank the organizers for recognizing the need for racial and ethnic diversity within this group of women.
That kind of organizing in women's groups and initiatives is long overdue.
I personally have no problem voting for a woman as long as she's the right one and doesn't exploit women like me to get where she wants.

No, Hillary was wrong.
The ceiling has WAY more than 18 million cracks in it. It's just that the cracks don't show up, if the light shining through is illuminating a woman whose natural constituency was the same progressive wing of the party MOST likely to support women's rights and progress, but the wing that she eagerly threw under the bus while she went haring off after rightwing votes that do not exist for her.
If Hillary Clinton had fought the good fight for our side; if she had, in fact, risked one ounce of her once-huge political clout, to go against the grain of what george bush and his petro-turds were, and are, doing to us, then SHE might have been considering whom SHE wanted for a VP candidate.
Instead, we get the spectacle today, of Bill, wagging his tail, and pissing himself like a nervous puppy, as he offers to campaign for Obama. An offer which I bet Obama is smart enough to: think about it for about 15 seconds, and then say how glad he is to have Bill Clinton's help, and then to kick his ass back in the closet, just as Hillary should have done. :o)

I disagree about the non-spouse standard barer. Maybe we needed that intermediate step. A woman from a well known political family to break some ground.
I think it will be easier next time around. and that is the change we have seen in this cycle.
Anyway, I love the 2024 project and am eager to see the film
