Gravatar Jesse, Despite the litigation fears of the manufacturer and the overzealousness of doctors, I retain a full prescription of the dread Vioxx for just such emergencies. Had occasion to use it a week ago when the old back injury began to drive me insane. My Dr. was "shocked" until I pointed out what she already knew. Nothing wrong with the medication FOR ME. Drs. need to cull patients for whom the drug might be harmful, but for most of us, it is a great temporary relief.

Gravatar Bless you.

Take care of yourself and get well Jesse.

I've been lucky that I haven't had major mouth problems except for a wisdom tooth that decided that it wanted to come up diagonally and another one that was upside down. *knocks on wood*

That surgery was fun!

Gravatar ick.toothpain.

I have had 3 root canals done. the last two were acutally no big deal. But the first one.... HOLY SHIT. and when i hear the words root canal that is the one I remember. I am right back there. crying in bed. wanting it to stop. The root canal was a disaster, sometimes they are. that tooth had 3 nerves one was more hidden... two had been extracted, the tooth filled with the temp stuff and packed with meds on a a friday night before a long holiday weekend... and guess what, the remaining nerve was.not.happy.

the pain by sunday was the worst thing I have ever felt in my life, that was almost 6 years ago. and when I hear root canal I am right back there.

best wishes for a fast, painless procedure and even faster recovery.

Gravatar Good luck and healing vibes, Doc.

Gravatar damn... fuck that shit

Gravatar Whee doggies, due. Take care of your biz and rest up. The rest of us will be here when you get back.

My last root canal was about 18 months ago as a prelude to an extraction of two teeth, and because of my now-former dentist it turned out to be an ugly affair-basically I wasn't given enough amoxicillin to kill the infection outright and the pain finally died the night before the root canal, so of course when I'm sitting in the chair, despite six shots of lidocaine I damn near came out of that other dentist's chair when he started drilling through an old filling to perform the root canal, necessitating him having to hit those exposed nerves directly with more lidocaine. (I didn't find this out until I got to my oral surgeon and the nurse explained to me what the hell happened).

To quote my oral surgeon's nurse, she said she'd much rather go through childbirth again than deal with that kind of pain...

Gravatar best wishes jesse. glad you got the insurance.

the pain eases eventually, the road away from it starts in the chair with some asshole rooting around your mouth. . .

hang in there bud.

breathe.

Gravatar Take care, Jesse. I have a double root canal (drill&fill) scheduled for next Wednesday, lucky f**kin' me.
