all good points, and even more, the distraction is stopping us from using what we DO know from past experience fighting regional groups.
How does this all tie into the bridge bombings?

This is about it...
At this point, there's not much left in the snakeoil reservoir.
Gettin' dry as a bone, in there. :o)
And with "Operation Endless Shitmire" moving right along, and with more repub-rodents heading for the lifeboats every day, what's a poor,
bullshit-peddling president gonna do, except to fall back on the same hordes of bloodthirsty, Allah-worshipping wogs who killed Gordon in Khartoum, as a justification for keeping this misery, or at least, our part in it, going strong?
Gordon Brown HAS to be watching what's been going on in Washington for the past 72 hours, and telling his secretary:
"Could you look into how soon we get a group fare deal for 5500 people?"

My mind keeps running back to what the High Chancellor was haranging his flunkies about the summer before Vee blew up the empty Houses of Parliament in V for Vendetta. They had to show the people "why they need us!"
Then all this bullshit news designed to whip up fear was on TV, and you could see folks not buying into it.
I still don't buy what happened in Britain not too long ago, right after it rid itself of poodle Blair, right near our July 4th holiday. These young doctors cum terrorists were just plain Katzenjammers, not Al Qaeda. I remember some intelligence guy saying that if this was Al Qaeda, if this is all Al Qaeda can do, they've gone down hill with a quickness.
Somebody's trying to play games with us.
And at the same time, despite all administration blandishments, Al Qaeda becomes all the stronger...not in Iraq, where they say they are located, but in Pakistan. Where they are still trying to kill Musharraf...and take over Pakistan's nuclear program.
Where Osama is said to be living in the no-man's land between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

$282 Million Stolen in Heist at Private Bank in Baghdad
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/07/1...ast/
12iraq.html
Both confirmed that the stolen money was in American dollars, not Iraqi dinars. It was unclear why the bank had that much money on hand in dollars, or how the robbers managed to move such a large amount without being detected.
Jeez...enough to fund more evacuees to return to New Orleans?

I was forcing myself to listen to some of Dear Leader's presser this morning and he kept repeating to the slack-jawed retards in the Press Room that it was "hard work" to keep the terrists from harming us again. By implication, he pointed at AQ.
If it was such "hard work," I wonder why the GOP-controlled Congress last year struck down every spending authorization designed to make our ports safer.
Made me wish I had bought more vodka on my last shopping trip, and nevermind the fact that it was before lunchtime.

I used to make comments on the old News Blog (R.I.P. Steve Gilliard) but here is my first comment in this new blog.
After 9/11 I used to listen to the government's frequent alarm that we needed to be vigilant because Al Qaeda were going to attack us again and yadda, yadda, yadda. But the more they harped on this threat, the more they overshot their alarms. In addition, they would make these alarms everytime something was happening in DC (like the first reports that discovered that there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq).
How do we know it's not yet another false alarm that's timed just in time for the showdown in Congress over the troops in Iraq? I wouldn't put it past Bush to take advantage of what almost happened in the U.K. in order to put Americans in enough fear that they would trust him unconditionally.
However, I think more and Americans are starting to wise up to all this and there's going to be a time when Bush will be derided as The Boy Who Cried "Wolf".
I only hope that the Bush Administration isn't proven right on the possibility of another terrorist attack in the U.S. this summer. That's because if they are right and the terrorists do attack, I shudder to think of all the innocent lives that would be lost.

Did you hear that after spending $500,000,000,000 to overthrow Saddam, the US is now working with Saddamists and other Sunni insurgents to fight al Qaeda in Iraq?
http://www.boston.com/news/world...bt_us_strategy/
The military suspects some of these new Sunni allies have killed US troops in the past and now we're arming them.
How could this possibly go wrong?
What a visionary we have in President Bush.

I know political protocol calls for jumping all over this assessment of al-Qaeda's new strength but I can't help but notice that the end of the fiscal year is coming closer.
Everytime you hear an administration spokesperson or even a career official who has made their bones in the field of terrorism expertise talk about these things you should hear of a 'cha-ching' in the background. Fear equals Bush's friends being paid.
