Can you imagine what would happen if the dems repealed the ban on offshore drilling?

of course that would mean cheaper oil/gas. Not something those posting here are support.

evil: there is relatively little unexploited oil on the un-drilled portions of the continental shelf -- maybe a billion barrels or so of recoverable oil, and even if leases were auctioned today, drilling wouldn't be able to start for at least five years, and reaching production would take five to ten years beyond that. In exchange, much of California's pristine coastline would be reduced to as much of a polluted eyesore as, say, the coast of Louisiana.
Much better to spend the money on getting over the goddamn oil addiction.
So let's see: One billion barrels of oil divided by 21 million (that's how many barrels we currently consume per day) means almost one and two-thirds months' worth of oil -- at today's rate of consumption.
And who knows? By the ten or fifteen years it comes on line, maybe -- despite the best efforts of evil and its ilk -- we'd be able to stretch that to three or even four months!
Well, hell, it's not like we use those coastlines for anything important ...
so when does exploratory drilling begin off Kennebunkport?
How about drilling for oil in the zits of all the trolls? Now THAT would solve the oil problem AND the troll problem....
