Looks like the Rummy's "Talking Dog" Larry DiRita had ordered up some (oppo?) research on an article that had run in (McCathy?) papers called "Pentagon Seeking Leeway Overseas".

Steve wrote a blog post about the article that was excerpted and described as among "those comments [that] varied only in the degree of their criticism of having DOD take on the alleged new role."

Man, if Steve only knew! Then again, perhaps he always knew?!
