Gravatar Ah, Mittens. Fare thee well. You worthless sack of shit.

Gravatar My "surrender to terror" candidate should kick his ass come November.

Gravatar So it's going to be McCain, barring his campaign having to cash in that life insurance policy he was force to take out.
I've said it before and I'll say it all the way to November--no matter which one of them gets the nomination, if either Hillary or Obama can't kick McCain's ass, the Democrats don't deserve to win an election ever.

Gravatar I think even if If Hillary wins the nomination (I'm for Obama now), she can still win the general election, IF she beats Obama in a clean fight in a clean fight and IF doesn't go all DLC on us.

Gravatar So lets see... fight Mr. 100 Years War fair, or just laugh and laugh while telling all those POed Conservatives that we Liberals have won no matter what they do because John McCain is a liberal pretending to be a Conservative... you guys are duped and screwed now. So much for Conservatives since the Republican Party has turned its' back on you big time.

(This should be fun... let's claim Mr. Bomb Iran Beachboy as an ultra liberal in hiding, just waiting to get elected and then grab their guns.)

Gravatar Amuseinc,

Just put it in their heads that McCain is really a Vietnamese sleeper who was brainwashed while in captivity. They already think Obama is muslim sleeper.

Maybe this will make them vote for Hillary.

Gravatar I think even if If Hillary wins the nomination (I'm for Obama now), she can still win the general election, IF she beats Obama in a clean fight

The Clinton slime machine wouldn't know how to function in a clean fight. I think Obama hasn't got a chance at the convention. He's going to see tactics that he can't even dream of.

Then McCain gets the benefit of all the people disgusted by Hillary's methods.

Gravatar Given McCain's age, whom he picks as a running mate will be a very significant issue.

Gravatar as we say out west.

adios motherfucker.

here's where my head's been lately instead of up politicky butts.

itsa ga'an

Gravatar Obama hasn't got a chance at the convention. He's going to see tactics that he can't even dream of.
I dunno, Chris. He came from Chicago after all...

Gravatar This is a bad devlopment...if jesse is right and hillary is the dem canadate, well Mccain polls better in the swing states. We know how clinton works, they will champaing only in the swing states, abondon most of the country and try to win. indiana, Wisconson, and perhapse Ohio go to Mccain, that with the republican strongholds gives him the victory.

jesse you better prey that yu are wrong as a mccain canadacy loaded wiht money(the republican mony machine will back him) vs a denergized dem base and a broke hillery(she is tryign to get her cash from the same tap as the republicans). well your only hope is ron paul playing the role of ross perot.

Gravatar Buh-bye mr mittens.

Gravatar the littlest gator --

that's funny. Sounds like a SNL sketch.

Gravatar Well this paves the way for Huckabee to become VP.

The question for me is how our nomination turns out. If this thing goes down to the superdelegates and we get some brokered crap then things will just explode. And despite Deans strategy to head off the apocolypse I'm not sure if a power hungry Clinton or for that matter an Obama that is just that close to the nomination won't fight it because they won't be on a ticket together.

The only silver lining about that is that the fundamentalists may just hate McCain enough not to vote for him even with ol' Huck on the ticket.

In-fighting in both parties in November. God help us.

Gravatar (This should be fun... let's claim Mr. Bomb Iran Beachboy as an ultra liberal in hiding, just waiting to get elected and then grab their guns.)

I know I'm Godwining myself to the max here, but what you're hearing there is a bunch of mouth-breathers who want their candidate in jackboots leading the goose-stepping torchlight parade down die Strasse.

Gravatar Moonglum, that's what scares me. Hillary beats Obama among Dems, but loses badly to McCain in national polls. The independents don't seem much inclined to turn out for her.

On the other hand, Obama gets incredible support from independents -- enough to handily trounce McCain in the polls.

If we're looking at who's most "electable," it's not at all clear right now that Hillary is our girl.

NOTE: NOTHING IN THIS POST SHOULD BE CONSTRUED AS AN ENDORSEMENT OF EITHER CANDIDATE. IT IS SIMPLY A DISCUSSION OF FACTS PERTAINING TO THE RACE.

I HAVE NOT MADE UP MY MIND. AND GNB IS NOT ENDORSING ANY CANDIDATE AT THIS TIME.

(I will be adding this disclaimer to every comment regarding the election until the insanity stops. And I'd suggest my co-bloggers start doing the same.)

Gravatar Wow, mittens sure sucked up to McCain in that farewell speech.

I know he and McCain are like oil and water. But what do you guys think are the chances that mittens is angling for a VP slot? Not like he has a real job right now and he certainly has the cash to toss into the race. I assume a VP candidate can self-finance just like the top of the ticket can.

McCain is old and chances are relatively decent that a VP Romney could crawl into the oval office in the next 8 years should McCain win.

I don't think Romney actually brings much to the ticket except perhaps to pacify the rabid right who don't like McCain. Why they like Romney is the big mystery of this campaign actually.

Anyway, I actually see McCain picking someone like Mel Martinez from Florida, not just to lock up the Florida vote but also to undermine Obama's support among Hispanics should Obama be the nominee. I don't think there's a chance in hell that McCain will ever pick Huckabee.

Gravatar Good riddance to bad rubbish. He was obviously an empty suit, regardless of religion (see Norm Coleman). I imagine the family are contemplating the wasted fortune. Some barbed words there, perhaps.

As for McCain. He's old and he looks old...... health care might yet be an issue on the GOP side.

Gravatar "Leaving to spend more time with Tagg's inheritance..."

milk, nose, keyboard (thank bog it wasn't coffee!!)

Gravatar damn, i'm not quite ready to launch romneyfreakout.com

Gravatar McCain would never pick Mel Martinez for VP. Both of them were in favor of a path to citizenship for immigrants and 2 "pro-amnesty" senators on the ticket would drive the right-wingers off a cliff.
McCain needs to pick someone even more conservative than he is in order to quell the GOP mutiny.

Other than the immigration issue, Martinez is pretty conservative. But frankly, the whole conservative movement is so discredited at this point that I do think McCain will go in a different direction, trying to out-triangulate Clinton or Obama. The Republicans will need to throw a hail-mary in this election to win. One way to freak the be-jeebers out of the Dems would be to make a serious play for the Hispanic vote. Especially if Obama is the nominee.

Gravatar Mittens is Quittenz?

now we need to start running the pic of grampa mccain hugging aWol and tag it either "we could be in iWaq a hundred years" or "I need to read a book on the economy"

Gravatar Hmm republican nomination.

Whoever wins, a crazy person loses.

"_"

Gravatar McCain is a terrible general election candidate. As the coming months unfold you will see why. If the GOP were smart they would support Huck. The corporate media sees Huck as a hick from the sticks baptist preacher, but the fact is he is smarter than most of them. And in the expectations game he will make them look foolish.

McCain, however, is a guy that the corporate media has been slobbering praise all over since 2000. Unless its Fox News the conservatives don't like the corporate media all that much, especially with Dobson telling the religious right that McCain is the antiChrist. This will all come together to backfire and torpedo McCain especially when "the surge" they've been touting goes up in a hundred car bombs with the end of the ceasefire of the Sadr militia and the resumption of the Sunni insurrection/anti-occupation uprising.

Gravatar My friends, surely all those photos of McCain hugging George Bush, strolling through Baghdad with Chuckles Lieberman and embracing George Allen at CPAC can be used to divide and conquer the bloodthirsty halfwits who continue to support this so-called "war hero".

Gravatar Well, now they can no longer serve their nation by campaigning for their dad, I wonder if any of the Fightin' Romney Brothers have considered signing up for a tour in Iraq?

How thoughtless of me. Willard may be out of the game, but the only way they can keep the soldiers fighting over there is for them to fight us here.

Gravatar Watching Laura "I didn't get the conciliation memo" Ingraham strafe McCain in the take-my-bat-and-ball-and-go-home-ing-est fashion possible just before Mitt launched his coo-coo-pants "dropping out so the terrorists don't win" horseshit extravaganza was a perfectly delightful way to spend an afternoon (and you thought our side had problems...).

Gravatar totally a side note but can I just say I LOVE the blog name
"Squeaky McCrinkle"

Gravatar Have u try the online bookstore Cocomartini.com
http://www.cocomartini.com/

I get all my textbooks for this semester from this bookstore. All are brand new textbooks and half price discount textbooks.

Good luck and wish some help.

hehe ^_^

Thank you, Mrs R. This is what I've been saying as loudly as I can, here and elsewhere.

I don't like Obama and I don't trust him. But in my considered opinion, he's the best option the Dems have right now if they intend to capture the Office of the President.

Consider the multiple times during just the last 12 months when W asserted that the Presidency isn't answerable to the Congress or the courts or anybody else. Does anyone here present really think we'll even have a sham republic left four years from now if another Republican wins in November?

"We've got to close the leaks or it's all over for us."

"We must get rid of the water. There just has to be a way."

Gravatar Mrs R probably has other links as well. But here's what I just dug up. Hat tip to Hoomai29, at dKos.

Election 2008 National Head-to-Head Polls.

I think the poll results for a Romney versus whoever result aren't very relevant right now.

And the relevance of the Huckabee versus whoever polls are fading as fast as the quotient of the Huckster's delegate count divided by McCain's.

Here are the poll averages that count:

John McCain (R) vs. Hillary Clinton (D), Date (range): 01/29 to 02/04

McCain (R): 46.7%, Clinton (D): 45.3%, Spread: McCain +1.4%

John McCain (R) vs. Barack Obama (D), Date (range): 01/29 to 02/04

McCain (R): 44.2%, Obama (D): 47.5%, Spread: Obama +3.3%

The change over time should also be taken into account. As the poll dates increase, so does Obama's lead over McCain. The point spread for the McCain versus Clinton polls are roughly constant.

Gravatar Stormcrow Its very improtant to note that boht mccain and hillary have there name recognition set. every one knows enough to make up their minds about them so those numbers will not change right now. Obama can only go up.

you have a chance RIGHT NOW to grabe an entire generation of voters. Obama reublicans if you will....regan democrats almost gave the right a permanant maority....

Gravatar If it's Obama, Huck gets on the ticket. If demoralized Republicans stay home because they don't like McCain, Obama could flip a couple of those majority black southern states. Huckabee can at least get the evangelicals out to vote.

Gravatar Carol hucks voters would be at the boths voting anyways..the ministers will tell them to vote and they will...its how those cults work. although some one like huck will be veep as Mccain needs to solidify his domininist base.

what it comes down to is eitehr of the republicnas left running will beat hillary, obama puts a lot morestates into play for the democrats and gives them a chance to pull off a regan like paridime shift. Obama republicans. has a nice ring (obama is no more of a conservative then regan was a liberal...its all about framing of the message)

an entire gernation of dominance( a massive movment of genreations x and y being fully enganged for decadees)...or do the dems with a DLC assist find a way to snatch defeat form the jaws of victory again. You dems have a lot of allies RIGHT NOW, feel free to push us away, just don't cry to us when your actions cause you to lose again.

Gravatar I will vote for the Democratic nominee in November, whether that be HRC or Obama.

I understand why many people believe HRC cannot be elected.

I do NOT understand why they believe Obama CAN be elected. Do they think racism is dead in this country? Also, the Elephascist Party and the Corporate Holodeck Media have not targeted Obama for years the way they have targeted HRC. If Obama is nominated, they WILL turn their full smear artillery against him, and then watch his popularity plummet--unless enough USAmericans have learned, at last, to ignore the CHM.

Gravatar IBW almost all racists are sexist...if they lsoe obama the election they lose hillary the election. the republicnas don't need to run racists adds as they allread have those voters, and running them may drive away what few nonracist republicans that are left.

Obama brings in folks who normaly do not vote. the youth, and the normaly dissalioned, he will also bring over moderate republicans as he frames his message in a way that makes sense to them. hillary turns all of these voters away.

Gravatar Obama will bring in non-voters and moderate Republicans!

And everyone gets a flying unicorn pony!

Ceiling Cat preserve me.

I will vote for Obama in November if he is nominated, but his enthusiasts make my eyes roll like Teflon-coated ball bearings. I thought only right-wingers sported Kool-Aid mustaches in such abundance.
