oh i would have loved to have been there. i watched it on tv and when caroline kennedy came out and then ted, with maria in the audience smiling thru tears, it was amazing!
They just had a segment on the convention/Obama on Japanese news ('hodou station').
They opened with the news that 3 potential white supremacist assassins were arrested.
Then they covered the vandalism that has occured at his office and interview a bunch of people on the street about Obama. It was just a small town. Everyone they spoke to was a typical republican: 'he says he wants change but I don't know what he means', 'I wish I had a better choice', etc.
They interviewed some people at the Obama office and they point out that no one would say 'I won't vote for a Black man' on teevee.
They next part of the report consisted of pointing out that Hillary won more primary states (20-18 ) and showed a handful of Hillary 'supporters' at the RNC-sponsored beerfest for Hillary supporters who wanted to now support McCain. They interviewed one of them (I heard you had to present credentials to get into the Republican beer meetup) and she was your typical, strident wackjob. I woulnd't be surprised at all to learn she was actually a Republican who was brought in to beef up their headcount to more than 10 (the bar was almost entirely empty).
They then decided to emphasize the 'racism' angle further by showing a few McCain campaign commercials of supposed Hillary 'supporters' who proclaimed their support for McCain. And they interviewed some guy from the Brookings Institution who said some whites, when they get into the voting booth, will end up not pulling the lever for Obama. He said Obama will need at least a 4 percent lead by the time the election occurs to offset the loss of the I-won't-vote-for-a-non-white bloc.
All-in-all, typical Japanese coverage. They hardly spoke to ANY Obama supporters or non-PUMA Democrats. When it come to American political coverage, they take their lead from the the beltway big media - the conservative side of it.
Yeah it is crazy. the Corp. media is ONLY interested in the over exaggerated "controversy" I have met hundreds of former Hillary dems supporting barack! Corp. Media SUCKS
