Well, the funny thing about Bob Barr is that he has been through a bit of a conversion since his Monicagate years. He's come out publicly against the Iraq war, for one. And he's joined the ACLU, too. While I wouldn't call him a liberal by any means, he isn't a yellow dog GOPer either.
If Brother Bobbeh siphons any votes from McWhatshisname, he'll be in negative territory.
Even Diebold won't know how to handle that.

Barr and the rest of the impeachment gang thought that the takedown of Clinton would result in eternal wingnut gratitude. They failed to realize that stoking the fires of intolerance and demonization could come back to burn them.
Bill McCollum of FL saw his Senate candidacy go down in flames when Mel Martinez painted him as "the darling of homosexual extremists" because he had the nerve to vote in favor of gay hate crimes legislation.
And Lindsay Graham should be thinking hard about why, despite his stellar GOP credentials, he's never seriously mentioned as a possible presidential or VP candidate.
I don't know if Bob Barr's recent conversion is true or not (I know some libertarians, and they aren't sure, so I'm sure not), but I do know one thing - he is no Southerner (born in Iowa). Neither is Newt (born in Pennsylvania) nor most of the rest of the Republican carpetbaggers who represent the boots on the ground of the Southern strategy. I get tired of these people coming south to inflict their racist code language on us.
When I was residing in Hotlanta during Bruh Barr's political heyday, it was the quiet talk/non-talk (Southern style) of the town that the Barr family had a healthy dollop of Mandingo sauce in their White Christmas Chili:

This observer has long thought that Barr has more than a little espresso in his milk. Especially since he was one of the leading advocates for the "voter ID" initiatives down here. Compensation?
Also, to say that he and Newt don't like each other is an understatement.
