Ah, memories. I was at a Pinetop concert upstairs at the old Tobacco Road in downtown Miami many many years ago, and when I get drunk, I feel a pianny comin' on. After the concert, the hall emptied and everybody retired to the bar downstairs. I decided to try out one of the 2 pianos and was playing a similar wailin' blues when the old man showed up and grabbed the other piano. We jammed for quite a few bars, an incident I will never never forget. Fine old gentleman.

the old bluesmen are national treasures that are fading fast. age and hard living will do that to you.
i know more than a couple of them pretty well. i was a fixture with papa john creach's standing gig in la jolla for a long time. i've played backing furry, lightnin', and many others.
everytime i'm in l.a. i make sure to visit madame zenobia's joint in watts. i always eat free and madame makes me sing for that supper.
the blues has saved my life more than once.
