The response of the tyrant: "If I wasn't in charge, this country would be in ashes."
It's a more hopeful world for fundamentalists of all stripes. Of course it's their hope that this world ends- and soon.

I'm a psychiatrist Hubris and I wouldn't want to waste ten minutes of the UN War Crimes tribunal's time on a MSE of this ratfuck sonuvabitch. We need all of our bughouse beds for our PTSD suffering Iraqi War returnees. A speedy in absentia trial at The Hague, followed by a super secret double darkside extraordinary rendition to a cell in a UN War Crimes Tribunal member state prison facility is all that he deserves.

Hubis,
I think you are missing the point. This message isn't aimed at us, the majority who know better, but at the 28 percent Bu$h Co. diehard supporters who just might be in the process of waking up to reality. Cheney is saying to them, "all is well, go back to sleep". This is a message to strengthen what remains of their base.

Cheney's not a lunatic at all. Odds on he doesn't really believe it, he's just spouting it secure in the cynical faith and knowledge that no one will dare question him. If you keep saying stuff - no matter how ridiculous - with full confidence that no one will call you on your bullsh*t, you may just get away with it. After all, he always has up to now.

Embedded in this outwardly insane statement is Cheney's cynical confidence that "history is written by the victors." Consider further the adage that "journalists write the first draft of history," then look at our lapdog MSM. Finally, note the future perfect tense and passive tone of the statement.
Cheney himself doesn't believe that Bush has made the country safer and the world more hopeful any more than we in the reality-based community do. This isn't a prediction about what independent and intellectually honest future historians will say, either.
It's a command to his audience of neoconservative "reality creators" to continue what he and his fellow criminals started. So stay tuned for more attacks on academic freedom, more dumbing down of public education, more assaults on Network Neutrality, and more consolidation of the MSM BS Machine.
The beatification of St. Ronnie was just a warm up.

"When the history is written, it will be said this is a safer country because George Bush was president," Cheney said.
He isn't saying it IS a safer country, only that it will be SAID.
He is warning us that he intends to make sure the history writers lie too.

Anyone see the new recommendations released buy the office of the VP contraveneing EPA, and Various other informed government opionions on Maritime law, essentially arguing that there are enough (and possibly too many whales0 and thus laws protecting said mammals in regards to shipping should be lifted? The man's cartoonishly evil, if I wrote a screenplay with a pol like Cheney that shit would get rejected as being "too heavy-handed."

I'm late to this posting party, but I'm passing on one of my bud's observations, who's a nurse.
Cheney's held together with lots of rubber-bands and chewing gum.
1. He's got terrible heart disease. He had to buy new shoes a few years ago because "his feet grew." No, no, my friends. His heart failure is so bad his ankles are over his shoes and his foot swelling is nasty.
2. Heart patients are on anti-anxiety meds, SOP.
3. An full-time cardiac team follows him EVERYWHERE. He could go at any point.
4. See point 2 about anxiety.
5. Anxiety badly affects judgment. REmember Ron Suskind at the 1% solution? Cheney's paranoid as all hell.
6. See header to this treat. Yup, bat-shit crazy.
