Gravatar yup... and this is not the worst story I heard.

Gravatar pre 911 I used to go through LAX, post 911 its asia all the way baby. Don't need the hassles.

Pity, I miss the good old USA!

Gravatar The liquids thing is, to me, even more galling than the shoes. I flew from Vienna to Stockholm this summer, and there was no bullshit.

But back to the USA? Forget duty-free deals on booze. Watch the shampoo! (But -- sotto voce -- lighters are fine.)

Who the hell dreamed up this crap? Why has nobody asked any of the Democratic candidates to address the madness?

Security, my ass.

Gravatar I really have to wonder what BushCo and the socially-retarded mouth-breathers who support them (Jim buddy, you out there, somewhere?) thinks they have to gain by alienating the middle and upper class people of the rest of the world in this manner.

Gravatar well, on a positive note, have a great holiday!

Gravatar When I fly in to the US, I have a choice of going through LA or San Francisco. LA has always been a more unpleasant experience, has that been noticed by anyone else ?

Gravatar In October I was flying through SeaTac. The queues were fairly large - I joked with the person beside me that it was a good thing the shoe bomber wasn't the jockstrap bomber.

This picture shows what the outcoume would have been...and would have pissed off the fundamentalists in the thread below to no ends.

Gravatar I am all checked in now in Munich, and the munich airport was a joy. Friendly people and get this... there was a christmas market serving hot mulled wine and bratwurst right out front! ahhhhhh

LAX is horror-story central, post 9/11 (I've read a fair number). You'd do best to avoid.

I like Munich airport. Straight forward, well marked, logical for the most part and the Bavarians for the most part are a "mind your own business" kind of people. And they're not averse to having a bit of fun as well. Wonder how the airlines like it though, cutting into their alcohol profits from customers

I remember flying out of Munich in 2004, to Toronto via Heathrow. The announcement at the time at security was "you do not need to remove your shoes at security unless you are flying to Russia, the UK or the US".

I do wonder though sometimes if there is collusion between the bottled water producers and the TSA - forcing people to buy on the secured side.
