What I couldn't figure out is why Lott consistently went to the wall for Bush despite the fact that Dubya screwed him on a regular basis.
Let's see they hosed him on that majority leader coup d'état, the reconstruction of the Gulf Coast and worked behind the scenes to make sure he didn't become Republican whip.

Yes, absolutely. This is not mud-slinging; this is a NECESSARY AND IMPORTANT part of keeping the people INFORMED.
If indeed Trent Lott has a history of performing fellatio on food-grade black and brown goats (as opposed to earlier rumors that all goats had been albino), this lends weight to the credible rumors that Trent also allowed himself to be anally penetrated by several food-grade mutton-rams throughout his political career. If Larry Flynt has the info, he has no reason not to release it. But I'd be surprised if it actually torpedoed Lott's lobbying future. Oh, he'll probably have to lay a little lower (ugh) than before, but lobbyists and "consultants" don't have to operate in the open, so there's little cost in listening to them -- and paying them.
Hell, Bob Packwood has been keeping plenty busy in DC, and he had to resign in humiliation in 1995. Lott will, similarly, keep a low profile and rake in the cash.

I'm betting the Larry Flynt Senator sex scandal involves Trent and another man. Trent wanted to leave before it became public to temper the damage.
Yes, indeedy, it allegedly involves Lott and a jet-setting male prostitute. However, the only site reporting on that right now is one with a crappy reputation (and they're evidently not even up and running tonight -- hmm). The guy did reportedly admit to that site that he's given an exclusive to another publication; we might infer that this would be Mr. Flynt, who is known to pay handsomely for this kind of information.
So stand by. There will probably be a disappointing shortage of goats; but there are strong early signals that Mr. Lott's wide stance is about to become the subject of national conversation.
Of course, it's ALL in the realm of rumor until the fat freak in the gold wheelchair sings. But Flynt's past record on this kind of thing is 100%. He doesn't go public with these kinds of stories until got every detail completely nailed. If Flynt's saying he's got the goods, my money's betting that he does.
And that's why Lott quit. Although the lobbying thing isn't totally bogus. After January 20, 2009, Trent and Denny and the boys aren't going to have a damned bit of influence left to sell. If they're ever going to cash in, they've got exactly 13 months to do it. The window on their market value is small, and closing fast. After the Dems take over, the Grand Old K Street Party is OVER -- at least for the likes of them.
