Gravatar I think you're going to need bigger type.

Gravatar So where do you stand on Obamas' statement today that his grandmother is a "typical white person" who while not a racist, is prejudiced?

Does that make you typical or atypical?

Gravatar >you're going to need bigger type.

Gravatar Of course, since St McCain is not a Dem and therefore his primary constituents are the ignorant, he will not be held responsible for not knowing which side one raghead or another is on. It is too hard even for an alleged leader. Besides, if they are killing each other , what's the problem? /sarcasm

Gravatar Hubris-dude: I have to tell you, you are getting a no-more-bullshit! air about your threads, that is positively Gillardian. :o)

Pray, continue. :o) :o) :o)

Gravatar Yet, I've seen a comment from some brainiac on a "conservative" blog stating that Daddy Mac is the "best qualified" for the presidency. Obviously sits in the no-thinking section at restaurants.

Sorry to say it but ... he can get signifigant support if he trolls for the Dipshit Vote. Hey, remember how well that worked for Reagan?

Read somewhere that a group of Americans surveyed couldn't find Iraq, Iran or Israel on a map - & the map was LABELLED.

Gravatar On a forum a Republican defended McSame on this with... "How sharp are you going to be at his age?"

I pointed out that I was not running for President based on my experience and knowledge.

So now we are to vote for a senile old fool and make excuses for his problem.

Gravatar Six years of Marxist-Leninist "conditioning" will do that to a person. I find him far more frightening than a black man. The possibilities start with a nasty bad case of PTSD and run over into Manchurian Candidate territory.

Gravatar The mind reels. Again. I'm dizzy.

Gravatar ...and leave it to NPR's All Things Considered to bring on Matthew Continetti from The Weekly Standard to say that what McCain is saying is true, then cut off E.J. Dionne before he could make a rebutta. Man, NPR's new department sucks.

Gravatar When McCain, with Joe Lieberman at his side, says:
Al Qaeda and Shi'ia extremists — with support from external powers such as Iran — are on the run but not defeated.
Most Americans hear:
Al-Qaeda blah Shi'ia blah blah-blah blah blah blah blah blah Iran-blah blah blah blah blah blah.

It's obvious what he's doing, where he's going & how he plans to get there.

Gravatar Hubris- what your saying is that he is as well-informed as the current CIC.

Gravatar Is he clueless or is he conflating in an attempt to dupe dumb people?

I read his statement as:

Al Qaeda and Shi'ia extremists (with support from external powers such as Iran) are on the run but not defeated.

Does this make sense? He's lumping them together but he's not necessarily saying that al Qaeda is being trained in Iraq. In this particular quote, anyway. In his other recent quotes, I think it was quite clear that he was just plain incorrect. Now, even though he's been corrected, he's decided to continue doing it and has made a very minor semantic change so that he can continue to dupe his supporters.

Gravatar If this is a preview of a McCain administration then be afraid.

Gravatar It would be nice if someone would point out to McCain that Al Qaeda represents a tiny percentage of the insurgency, that Iraqis in general despise them and will gladly hunt them down like dogs when the US leaves.

Gravatar If this is a preview of a McCain administration then be afraid.

It is.

And if he gets made Pres, then he's going to be somebody's marionette. Or several somebodys'.

That's all he can possibly amount to, now. He sold out on everything greater long ago.

Gravatar It will all be over after the first Obama - McCain debate, even with the questioners giving McCain sloppy blowjobs.

Gravatar McCain's comments make sense if he wants to go to war with Iran.

The conflation isn't a mistake, it's deliberate. McCain hasn't found a war he hates.

If McCain wins in November, it will be all the killing all of the time.

Gravatar I think he's doing it on purpose, too. Or if mixing them up wasn't on purpose, trying to associate them in people's minds, just like GWB did with al-Qaeda and Saddam Hussein, is on purpose.

Gravatar I'm really not surprised at this. Unfortunately, most Americans are blissfully ignorant of other cultures, other countries and geography. And sadly, Senator McCain has fallen into this unenviable category and/or plays to his knee-jerk jingoism for a cheap political sound bite.

Gravatar Don't forget the distinction and big cultural differences between Iraq and Iran.

Iraq is an Arab nation.

Iran is Persian.

They have distinct cultural histories. Different languages.

Even if they are both majority Shia, they aren't necessarily going to be friends for historical/cultural reasons.

Gravatar The mnemonic I learned quite a while ago has stood me well:

Sunni/Saudi

Not to hard, is it?

Gravatar BOHICA: God help us, that's what I thought about Gore/Bush. Then they said Bush "won" the debates because he didn't look as stupid up against Gore as people expected him to..

Don't think this will be that easy.

Gravatar Iraqis are scary brown people

AQ are scary brown people

Ergo Iraqis are AQ

A.Q.E.D.

Gravatar It doesn't matter because none of it is real. Welcome to virtual USA 1.0
