I used to read the old News Blog religiously, somehow I didn't realize y'all had regrouped. Glad to find you, I'll be back for sure.

Gravatar I think Obama's group can pull it off. I mean he DOES need a bigger venue. It scares the poo out those pubbies :-D I like it! I'd consider driving to Denver for thaaaaaat. He's got some serious firing UP of the peeps to do and this will be worth it. So all those ape-shitter-goers can just suck it up and get it done!

Gravatar Relax, Jesse, you can walk to Mile Hi Stadium from the Can (what we locals call the Pepsi Center). As for the media center, someone's gonna pull down some overtime. Good for the economy, good for the Union guys.

PS- Have you heard of Rocky Mountain thunder?

Gravatar I hope this goes well. But I’m getting a creepy Leni Riefenstahl flashback.

Gravatar i dare ya not to be whistling or humming smoke on the water

or any song from altamont. . .

Gravatar Watson, I've been concerned about such things for a few months now, although given the high incidence of fierce hatemongering young'uns in Plastic Jesus's campaign, I'm thinking more of Mao and his Red Guards than Hitler and the Ratzis.

Gravatar I think this is great news!

The ONLY people this is going to screw with is really the media... and as far as that goes. whatever. It might me MORE bloggers can get it on that night too. More from each credentialed blog.

And it is not like Mile High is not set up for media... Remember they play FOOTBALL there which is the most filmed sport from the most fancy angles and "produced" coverage. More than any other sport (except maybe the Olympics) I think it will be fine. Plus they have a month and some change to work on logistics, which is way better than 48 hrs. I think it will ok!

And how exciting!
and what a contrast from the GOP. They wouldn't even be able to fill a stadium. He he

Oh and Don't forget cats and kittens, I will be there to as your resident DNC member.

Gravatar dunno Jesse

I suspect Denver is more than capable of holding more than one media event at a single time. Modern NFL Stadiums like Invesco Field are fully wired and media capable. It's not like they're holding this event out in a cornfield somewhere.

In any event, they have more than a month to plan for this thing. I'm sure the professionals involved will figure out how to pull things off without visible hitches.

Gravatar And..... news from the pubbieland convention(s).......
Maverick GOP presidential candidate Ron Paul has booked an arena in Minneapolis for a "mini-convention" that could steal some of John McCain's thunder just days before he accepts the Republican nomination.

http://news.aol.com/political- ma...6969x1200254102

Gravatar Kennedy will be evoked; the 1960 Convention was held at the LA Sports Arena, while Kennedy's big speech was given next door at the Coliseum.

Gravatar MHJ has it pegged

Barack Obama to emulate John F Kennedy with Democratic nomination acceptance speech

Gravatar oops that should have been DJ has it pegged. sorry!

Gravatar I have no problem with it, but it's gonna suck if the weather is bad, or worse if it is iffy. I don't think Obama giving a speech in the rain is what they are looking for.

Gravatar LHG- in the bottom of that article you linked it says that Mr. Obama has admitted to using both ganja and cocaine. Wow, honesty from a politician on the big non-issue.

NOW he's got my vote!!

PS- If it rains in Denver in late August too bad- this is a semi-arid climate and we need all the rain we can get. Plus the odds are rather unlikely.

Gravatar Denver, and many other cities brave freezing cold snow and rain all time to watch grown men prance around in tights after a little bitty oblong ball thingie..... BUT.... OBAMA's nomination acceptance speech.... a little summer rain might make the dnc-ers wimp out?

Well, sure, I guess for some it might be too much. NOT!!!!

Note to Jesse: Add "Rain gear/ponchos" to your list for thenext wonderful donation plea.

Gravatar ooh! I have cool fancy kos-orange rainboots! would that be hooshing it up if I wore an orange poncho at the speech?

Gravatar I think you'd have to wear the hooshiest sunglasses with that, in the rain, and you got a winner 'gator! :D

Gravatar It's also the anniversary of the MLK "I have a dream" speech!

I've been to a couple of rainy Rolling Stones concerts where the rain stopped when Keith Richards came out for his solo turn. I expect something similar would happen in Denver should it rain

Gravatar Wyrm: first off its denver, odds of rain are extreamly low.

secondly, Obama started this run when the temp was in the single digits...i don't think a little rain will bother them.

Gravatar TLG: Orange boots and poncho are a great start -- but you'd also need fabulous earrings and probably a coordinating tote (I'd go for bright blue myself) to make it truly Hooshed Up.

Also makeup and big hair (in your case, and updo), which are key to any kind of hooshing.

Gravatar One of the kids at school said the easiest way to trash this is for the protesters to go out and buy large radio controled aircraft and blow security away. Gotta hand it to teenagers, creative.

Gravatar I so want to do a Hooshing It Up party... get all my friends together, Get all Hooshed up and then go to tea at the Ritz. How fun would that be?!

You have to know me to know how utterly un-hooshy I am... makes me grin just thinking about it.

honestly I do envy gals that can pull it off though I wouldn't want to live that way every day. I would like a tiffany's moment myself every once in a while.

Gravatar The Col | gotta love kids and their naivate...no plane, remote controlled or not gets close...and then you go to jail for a very long time.

good luck with that.
