When I saw Pelosi's face on the side of the post, I thought "Just like Dubya, she has squandered the good will that was given to her."
Dubya got tons of good will on 9/11/2001 that he pissed away.
As far as I'm concerned Nancy Pelosi has thrown away the good will that she got when she became Speaker. Henry Waxman seems to be the only Democrat doing anything; everyone else seems either afraid of Dubya or a censure motion.
Don't you people get it? It's the job of the Dem "leadership" to police the voting base of the Democratic Party. That's their real enemy: Democratic voters. They'll take your votes - and grudgingly, at that - and expect you to thank them for the privilige. Then they'll conspire against you with their allies (and good buddies), the Republicans. These days they don't even try to pretend otherwise. If the last 6 months haven't proven that, I don't know what will.
There are only two roads available to you that don't involve violence:
1.) Re-take the Party and populate it with people who genuinely stand for the sort of things Democrats are supposed to represent, or...
2.) Start a new Party to replace the Dems altogther.
I honestly don't know which is more do-able, and I freely admit Nader & the Greens' numerous fuck-ups don't exactly inspire confdence in the latter choice...but sooner or later, y'all are going to have to have a conversation about the second possibility, because the first sure as shit doesn't look possible at all from this vantage point. I think the corruption has seeped too deeply into the Democrats as a Party, and the rotten fuckers running it are too firmly entrenched. Trying to retake the Party is a noble ideal, but let's face it: It just doesn't seem to be happening.
What we're seeing isn't "Battered Wives Syndrome". Complicity, not cowardice. Collaboration, not incompetence. Collusion, not stupidity. Until you folks finally admit these truths to yourselves, you aren't going to accomplish a damned thing.

This party was largely incapable of opposition so it shouldn't be surprising that they are incapable of leadership. And whatever Democrat will get elected will have to endure a very vocal opposition party that lies as much as it can and fakes outrage with absolutely no repercussion on the credibility scale.
This is what political paralysis looks like. Believe me, the invasion of Iraq and the replacement of our Constitution with a bunch of promises for the future couldn't have happened any other way.

I totally agree, and that is why I no longer consider myself a Democrat (the last FISA vote pushed me over the edge).

That was over a week ago I think. Huge disconnect just outted these people as members of the Betrayus family in a clear way. They had a chance to make a stand, they chose not to. That's why all the illusion of the "hillary is winning" messaging everywhere is equally as much bullshit. A vote has not been cast just yet.
