Gallup has him ahead 48% to 41% (was 45% to 43% before the trip).
This is not statistically significant. It's indistinguishable from sampling errors. The next poll cited shows a bump, but this one doesn't.

thanks for highlighting this one, it's a great site, and even an unwonk like me can take in and make sense of some of the data.

At one point in the 1988 campaign, Dukakis led Bush Sr. by roughly 17%.
Maybe "Dewey" will defeat "Truman" this time, but predicting a landslide is a bit counter-intuitive.

Id is right. We should all just stop this nonsense right now and submit willingly to the idjitry candidate. What's the use. They always win and so we should have just learned that by now. Obama should just go home and contemplate his navel lint. All is lost anyway.

ahh good old eyor has viseted again...hey dope at this point in 1988 we had just coem off the dem convention, you where looking at the high water mark of the post convention bounce before the republicans had their love in...this isn't a traditional convention bounce (as the convention hasnt' happend yet). yes obamas number will spike post convention, and drop a bit post republican convention...thats how the numbers go.....if he haas a lead preconvention that is a very good sign. Oh and bush 1 was basicly runnign as a incumbet with a lot of institutional advantage, and well dukakis was goofy looking.

For fuck's sake, guys, Monster From The Id is only trying to say don't count your chickens before they're hatched, hardly an unreasonable or radical notion. Especially given the events of the last couple of presidential elections.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: All that's necessary for the GOP to "win" is for the vote to be close enough for them to steal and for the Dems to once again respond by refusing to do a damn thing to block them. You think that can't happen? Obama isn't exactly shaping up to be a fighter...or even particularly liberal or progressive, for that matter.
