Two abortion clinics in ABQ were hit on Christmas Day. A pipe bomb was left in an abortion-clinic parking lot in Austin just a few months ago. Women's health centers and abortion clinics regularly get white powder in the mail, bomb threats, etc. In fact, the Olympic bomber, Eric Rudolph, also bombed an abortion clinic and a gay bar. And then was hidden by fine Christian folk for years.
Then there was that guy who walked into the Clinton campaign office in New Hampshire and said he had a bomb, just this month.
The difference isn't just ambulances. Bhutto was killed at a rally, attended by thousands, demanding elections and protesting the phony election results that put Musharraf back in power after he disbanded the Supreme Court that challenged his election. These people knew that they could be killed for their views, but they came out anyway.
Maybe we here just don't feel like we have a stake, or that we can make a difference. The Pakistanis obviously did feel like they could make a difference. What does that say about us?
