Gravatar Did you just see Terry McAuliff on there with mathews...... I thought he was going to spontaneously combust!!! I mean I can't stop laughing at that. mathews is agreeeeing with him and he's just frothing at the mouth...... omg I got tears. What drugs are THEY ON?

Oh ... yeah, congrats Mrs. Bill Clinton, great job

Gravatar uhm... no.. i am in tokyo... what was he doing?

Gravatar congrats to Hillary on a clear win.

Gravatar voter id laws....

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/1...r=1& oref=slogin. The money quote:

These bills are not a sincere effort to prevent non citizens from voting; that is a made-up problem. The real aim is to reduce turnout by eligible voters. Republicans seem to think that laws of this kind will help them win elections, but burdensome rules like these — and others cropping up around the country — pose a serious threat to democracy and should be stopped.

(h/t to DAUK member Herman and DAThailand Gary)

Gravatar I reckon this, with Kentucky, should send her over the top!

It's going to be Vote Hillary this Autumn... Which'll nicely match those pastel trouser-suit/pant-suit thingummys that wear so well.

Clinton '08.

Gravatar I'm looking for the cliip.... but josh marshall puts it like this:

"Now Terry McAullife is losing his mind and his voice live on TV."

And that's putting it mildly. It was so funny the way he was carrying on that the window with mathews and keitho went out.... possible because they were falling out laughing their asses off.

It was incredible....

Another funny was earlier russert waved some imaginary long hair out of his face back up on top of his 'doo. That was lol funneh too, but not like that mcauliff bit.

That's entertainment

Gravatar from the WaPo

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.) claimed an overwhelming victory over Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.) in West Virginia's presidential primary today, a win that increased the likelihood of her continued candidacy but did little to alter her position as a decided underdog in the race for the Democratic nomination.

Gravatar Clinton is bleeding cash at an unbelievable rate to keep this up. The MSNBC guys mentioned she is something like $20 million in debt at the moment. $10 million in loans to herself and another $10 million in debts to suppliers and venders (including Penn no doubt).

Remember not so many months ago when she was the cash cow and not Obama? Wow.

Gravatar Here's the clip of the mcauliff meltdown. Of course its hard watching so much of matthews but still.....
from tpm:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o...h? v=oRDCbmIdnzc

There's something about that man's energy that seems so hopped up to me. I'm just glad he's not dnc chair anymore. I think you can see why we lost those last two. For the life of me, I can't understand Hillary's choices in campaign staff.

I thought the turnout would be much higher.

Gravatar Why would the turnout be higher? Not like it matters anymore. Was there anything else of importance on the ballot in WV?

Gravatar Most of you have probably already been over to drifty's place, but for those who haven't ...

http://driftglass.blogspot.com/2...t- virginia.html

Gravatar Big hairy deal. She picks up a dozen delegates. She'll get another dozen or so from Kentucky, and a few from Puerto Rico, and then comes the wall...big time.

Gravatar Kent, I guess I was going by what she had said about some 1M or so expected. That just doesn't seem very high. She's saying there's 2.1M in PR and I think they're including all of that total in their "popular vote" battle cry.

Gravatar I wish Obama would've campaigned a little more in West Virginia. I don't know if that many people are still paying attention to Clinton, but for someone so barricaded from the reality of the situation this could make her blow up the convention.

Then again maybe I am making much ado about nothing since the race effectively ended 3 months ago.

Gravatar I don't think he could campagin in WV without telling people its okay to not vote for Bill Clinton again. It would have been very ugly. He might need bill clinton to go there in the general and tell them its okay to vote for someone other than a clinton. It didn't matter really except to the bubble dwellers.

He could win there against mccain I think. I woke up to 4inches of snow on my tomato plants and I thought "It's a sign" that WV would break from the past and go Obama. Guess it was just a sign I should have watched the weather channel a little more closely

Gravatar June...WV will never go to obama..you ahve mayors who beilive the muslim smears in WV (hell you jhave folks in WV that wont vote for a muslim canadate due to their religion...that shoudl be a big glowign neon sign that they need soem reedumucation).

Obama will never get teh racist vote, with otu the racist vote you can't win soem states, WV, arkansaw, Ectr where never on the radar.

Gravatar No point in Obama campaigning heavily in places like PA, IN and WV where rural morons buy the Clinton supporters' argument that he can't be trusted because he's a "halfbreed and a Muslim".

Besides, he's running for President against McCain now. Maybe Hillary will figure that out like the rest of us have.

Gravatar exactly, when I see dem town mayors spewing the mulsim crap (or more to my point, havign a probleim with a nelected offical beign muslim) I write the whole place off asa bunch of biggoted nuckle draggers.

Gravatar Alternatively, as to Over The Top in Kentucky:

The day after Pennsylvania it was clear that Clinton needed only to match her decisive win in PA with equal ones in 15 more states the size of PA, and she'd catch up in elected delegates. Or, as here, the equivalent in huge margins in small states. And maybe a mere 12 would do; I didn't do the exact calculation. She has now done one of the 15 or maybe 12.

Only 11 more states the size of Pennsylvania needed! Kentucky will do it!!

Sadly, No: That calculation was in case Obama didn't win any during the process.

Sadlier Noer, I haven't figured out where to find a dozen more states the size of Pennsylvania, and even the smaller ones (all of them to be won lopsidedly) are not thick on the ground at the moment.

Gravatar I would be very suprised if Kentucky whent to hillary in these large of numbers...yes there is a big racist core there, but the state also has a growing white coller middle calss community. I expect something closer to IN then WV

Gravatar The vote of a "bigoted knuckle-dragger" counts the same as the vote of an illuminatus, folks-- perhaps more, once the usual Elephascist voter suppression and vote fraud disenfranchises a large chunk of the illuminati--although once the 527s and the Corporate Holodeck Media get through with the Ayers connection, the GOP may actually not NEED to cheat.

Oh well, at least with President McSame, it'll help the Democrats to have an Elephascist President to take the blame for the oncoming recession.

As for the wars, between the Oil Lobby, the Death Gadget Thieves' Guild [oh, excuse me, the "Defense" industry] and the Israel-First Lobby, none of the three remaining possible next-Presidents would be able to end the wars, assuming any of them want to do that.

Gravatar IBW. yes there vote counts but it is irrelivant. Obama and his team are smart people...the yknwo taht they will never win the racist vote, they now palces like WV are filled with enough racist that they will lose badly...they woudnt' be runnign if the couldn't win.

dont worry abotu the racists they are irrelivnat...we msut win with out them as tehy will never ever vote dem.

Gravatar It's a matter of allocating campaign resources (something Hillary has shown herself incapable of doing with any competence) within the context of a 50-state strategy.

Understanding in advance that so-called "red" states like WV are a write-off under the terms of our outmoded and broken Electoral College system, Obama will likely limit his campaign stops in such states to a couple of major college towns and urban areas not dominated by GOP-leaning industries. He won't even bother with the knuckle-dragger boondocks, just as he won't triangulate (i.e. pander) to bigots and religious nuts who wouldn't vote for him at gunpoint.

Whether McCain or Obama wins, this is the year for the Democratic Party to send a clear message that the opinions of right-wingers don't count anymore.

Gravatar moonglum - I think its more than that. Not that I don't think lots of people are racist.... heck I doubt he could win AZ for that reason. But, to do anything in WV he'd have had to go against Bill Clinton. That's who they voted for yesterday. Obama would have had to go all out against the clintons and I think he's on a short leash from doing that. That's a mistake. The dnc doesn't get that hillary will not leave.... even after all the votes she will still be martyred in the eyes of her supporters/victims. It doesn't matter IF the party can be reunited.... it matters that because of the clintonco talke, we look like koolaid manufaturers. Now, how's that different than what we have?

Its a hell of a spot for Obama dealing with this. He should stand up there and call the big BULLSHIT on them and watch the unity begin!

The clintons are agrguing to run the same mcauliff strategy as 2000/2004 and hillary said so in her speech. Heaven forbid there could possible be another way that doesn't involve playing by the pubbie maps relying so heavily on their fixed voting machine states. Get the fainting couch.

Obama needs to play every second of every minute of this game with the same intensity that got him here. Screw this "let her exit gracefully" crap. She doesn't know how to do that and I fully believe she will continue her campaign regardless.

Gravatar Well IBW you are going to vote for Cynthia Mckinney so you get a twofer she is black and a woman. Unlike that untrustable, bomb throwing, Obambi!

Gravatar I do not believe that Senator Obama is, or ever has been, a bomb thrower.

I do have a problem with the fact that a couple of his old chums are unrepentant bomb throwers [Ayers and Dohrn].

I am disgusted with the fact that a bunch of slimeballs in the Corporate Holodeck Media say the most hideously misogynistic things about Clinton and get away with it, whereas if they said similarly racist things about Obama, they would, quite properly, be fired.

I am disgusted with a bunch of slimy punk trolls infesting Shakesville with their misogynistic comments. I do not think they constitute the majority of Obama supporters, or even the majority of young Obama supporters, but the only thing I can do to the little shits is deny their candidate my vote.

Besides, the Oborg don't need working stiffs like me; they've got the "creative class". Fine, I don't need them, or him, either.

I can't bring myself to vote for an Elephascist, but McKinney has been a consistent liberal.

Gravatar IBW you ever think that a Mccain win is exactly what they want....i do beleive that you have been played...not that it would be hard to do.

Gravatar Well IBW I will see your sexism and raise you a racism, however if you really believe that Obama is to blame for the behaviour of folks who were bomb throwing when he was less than ten that is up to you.

I still think that you have you've been had. You've been took. You've been HOODWINKED, BAMBOOZLED, led astray, run amok. however you are more than welcome to dislike Obama for what his acquaintances have done as well as the supporters on the web who have never sat down with him.

The funny thing about the oppression olympics is that everybody can win but everyone looses.

cheers
