Gravatar So, did making marshmallows with her doting uncle do absolute wonders for ma'amselle's upset tummy?

Gravatar That's the happiest looking sick kid I've ever seen. You really are a good uncle.

Gravatar That sounds like a great recipe (and a great idea for making vanilla extract). Hope the niece feels better as a result.

Gravatar Jeez, Stevie, that poor kid's gonna weigh 300 pounds before she gets out of elementary school.

Gravatar Awwww...after a long night's insomnia due to worry over the damn election, opening this up and seeing Dani's sweet face was EXACTLY what I needed to start my (overtired) day off right. I know I'm just a crazy lady she doesn't even know, but give her a great big hug for me, OK?

Gravatar i was in pretty much the same condition robin. worried, tired, ready to descend into despair.

then, dani pops in and my world was perfect.

i couldn't keep that to myself.

tummy was made better. her mom, the nurse, is on it. she's pretty clear as to what might be the cause.

for what was ailing me, it was perfect.

Gravatar Stick a fork in him. He's done. Some badass you are. Honestly, you are as whipped as those marshmallows you guys made last night.

Dani is MB's krypton...

Gravatar you are just too wonderful and she is a happy and very bright and beautiful little one!

Gravatar and jp, as far as the weight issue goes, having the kids make their own treats is a great way to improve the quality of those treats, along with giving them the satisfaction of having created something themselves.

seeing the work involved with preparing them, then, in the case of the marshmallows, having to wait until the next day and dealing with all that anticipation and stuff makes it an even stronger treat.

yesterday all she got was the beater. the real indulgence comes today.

with home made marshmallow you have the option to cut it bread size. think about that for a moment.

now, visualize a breadsize chunk of marshmallow, slathered with nutella, between two slices of bread.

s'more sandwich bitchez!

Gravatar Yeah, mb! Punkster's so right. Next time, you better hunt, skin and butcher those vanilla beans where we can watch them die!

Gravatar I'm not passing judgement on this post or anything such as that, but as a person living with candidiasis, the idea of a food made almost entirely of sugar is a little bit, well, scary. That's probably because one time I gave in to temptation and ate a whole bunch of cake frosted with buttercream frosting (which is basically whipped butter and powdered sugar). About twenty-four hours later, my candida-rash bled profusely when I scratched it. It was really quite awful. (Apologies for the TMI.)

Gravatar My tum kinda is a little off......

Yummy stuff for s'mores for sure. Other than that I don't care for 'um. BUT I so admire anyone who can make candy!!! Dani rocks!! And you're such a pushover, MB. Good for you

Gravatar Minstrel Boy is a big marshmallow. Pass it on.

Gravatar jeez, i thought that the marshmallow part was already common knowledge.

little girls will do that to you.

having watched three of them go from little girls to fine young women has made me a marshmallow.

i. can. cope.

Gravatar Didn't marshmallows originally include some part of the marshmallow plant?

Gravatar yes, they did kim. that was the medicinal part of the confection in its original form.

the sap of the plant is a gelatinous compound called mucilage. it is a long respected folk and herbal treatment for sore throats.

it tastes like ass. an english doctor, in order to make it more palatable for his patients would whip the mucilage with egg whites and sugar to form lozenges.

they became popular on their own, the mucilage was swapped out for gelatin and it went from a treatment for sore throats to a full confection.

Gravatar My wife would die. Ever since her gastric bypass surgery, she's not allowed to have sugar.

Gravatar Do your thang Dani!! Work that uncle like a lovin' mule BabyGirl!!!

Gravatar That is supremely adorable. I wonder if Ciara would have the patience for something like this. Her dad would be happy; he's a sweetsaholic.

Gravatar My fav. pic is the one with the cooking spray. the look on her face is more than priceless.

Gravatar click to enlarge.

makes it even more fun.

Gravatar Tart

Is Ciara Italian? Do you pronounce it
she-ara, see-ara or jara?
