No worries! The Chimperus Imperator claims that a state of 'normalcy' is emerging in Iraq. He should know; he and his followers are dab hands at creating their own reality.
AMEN. I have never seen such a disconnect in the news from "home" (the US) and here (we are currently in the UK) -- this week's Iraq coverage was 180 degrees off! We have always been at war with Eurasia. Things are returning to "normalcy." Nothing to see here, folks, move along....
human connections, making this about people, not tactics, not strategies (grand or full on folly), but people who breathe, live, and die in stupid, violent, messy ways is what might eventually end this.
it's fucking time. it's been fucking time to end this since we were stupid enough to go in. the only thing that will be accomplished by staying is more death. more stupid, senseless death.
i'm not anybody's pacifist. when the dirty hippies were in the streets of chicago i was stomping around the streets of hue and other places. i pulled three tours because i love a fucking fight. i do.

when i hear the adminstration talking about how families have begged them not to let the deaths of the service members be in vain i want to fucking scream "it's already in vain, you've already wasted all those young lives, and the lives of iraqis whose only mistake was to be born where they were born sitting on top of oil you and your greedy fucking bastard friends wanted."
it's about oil. it's about oil being priced high so that vile shitheels like cheney and his co-conspirators can get even filthier rich than they already are.
there is no way to paint this in terms of honor, or truth, or anything but a naked looting of people who did nothing to provoke that action from us.
i am ashamed. i am saddened. i am sickened.

We will pay for many years to come for the actions taken during George W. Bush's administration. His legacy will be far-reaching but not in the way that he thinks it will be.
We'll never begin to learn the true extent of what we've done to the Iraqis, until we're gone. The story they'll tell then will blacken our name for generations.
