Hurrah for the Commonwealth! Nice to see a progressive state acting progressively by taking outmoded and obsolete laws off the books (now if only Florida could delete the statute on cohabitation ...)
Now to see how the "Full Faith and Credit" clause in the Federal Constitution works when these happily married people go home to their prospective states.
The full faith and credit history with regards to marriage questions is iffy. If I understand correctly there's no guarantee of that argument working in federal court.

Some of the folks in my massachusetts town are whining about how this law is attacking their marriages... personally, I find their whining to be unseemly and ugly. I asked one of them: how has gay marriage affected your marriage of 40 years?

dejah thoris : the question to ask them is if marrige is a religious issue or a leagel construct. IF its legal, then whats the problem whit two adults of any gender entering into a marrige contract together. IF its religious...well what religion, my religion says that now one outside of our faith can get married...Isrial has religious marrige, ask any nonorthodox jew form isrial how that works out for tehm (they are probably in the states to get married)

You know, I actually converted one very stubborn friend of mine on this issue. He had just gotten married, and was infuriated that pro-gay-marriage folks were "diluting" the meaning of marriage.
I asked him to specifically enumerate how two men or two women getting married affected his day-to-day relationship to his wife, or to the legal status of THEIR marriage.
His two choices were to admit his bigotry or change, and to my surprise he chose the latter.
