Nothing but Class.

Gravatar Good writing. Good idea about the cement bomb. It's nice to know that someone, sometime was thinking about minimizing civilian casualties.

Col Boylan is nothing more than a run-of-the-mill right wing blogger-type who somehow became the spokesman for Petraus. What a moron.

Gravatar Haven't they been hinting about this shift in tactics for quite a while now? It's just that the original plan envisioned Iraqi troops in the front lines, with a leavening of American "advisors" backed up with air power, while the majority of our soldiers holed up in the superbases.

Apparently Petraeus and the High Command have decided to dispense with the Iraqi troop element, which probably indicates they've given up on the idea of a stable government (if they were ever serious about it). Now -- as everyone here knew they would -- they're going for Plan B: "Let's drag this out as long as we can."

We've finally lowered the bar to the point where "winning" in Irag simply means taking fewer casualties.

Does that mean I want more soldiers killed or maimed? No, but you have to question the morality, not to mention the wisdom of a result purchased by inflicting even more death and mayhem on innocent Iraqis. Especially when it's done in a way that the victims' friends and family will regard as especially callous and cowardly.

Gravatar But this would mean Petraeus would be sacrificing the long term goal for a short term political advantage...

Seems like it is about time to ready a new resolution to strike down a hurtful newspaper ad against Partraeus that makes US soldiers cry...
