Statistically, this is tied with the 18% that Truman had around 1952. I say statistically, because the margin of error is usually around 2 or 3 percent. Bush has a good chance of having lowest approval ratings of any president ever. Mission accomplished.

It won't be long before Bu$sh's approval level is imaginary, something like 10i

Gravatar To say it in a bad stereotypical Oriental accent (a la Benny Hill) "Hory Mackeler!"

19% Ye gods. Is this the Limbo Presidency? How low can he go?

Gravatar The square root of -1 presidency! A new, Historical record!!

Gravatar But this still means that 1 out of every 5 people you see a day think he RAWKS! How can you possibly preserve a democracy with that kind of a handicap?

Gravatar Apologize for the rethread, but I'm going to restate my opinion that the reason for the drop in this poll is the contrast/comparison being made with Obama.

Nothing else fits for this big of a drop over the last month or so. No new news. Sure, the economy got worse, but at that much of a faster rate of speed? Not really. Iraq? Same old drip drip drop.

But the last few weeks have shown a clear contrast of what COULD be, and that in and of itself puts Bush in a much poorer light.

Gravatar This is waycool. :o)

Bush said last week that McCain is the best candidate "to carry forward my policies".

I was kind of waiting for McCain to hold a presser and issue a disclaimer like:

"All opinions expressed by the current occupant of the large white house on Pennsylvania Avenue, are his and his alone. We take no responsibilty for them."

Instead, figuratively, McCain KEEPS his head in bush's armpit (if not another portion of Junior's anatomy)
and talks freely of wars yet to come.

With the ship kicking up at 30 degree angle, I just don't think the GOP is going to be able to sell their bloody fuckup in Iraq as the gambit for a century-long Holy War.

Especially since it looks like we dems are about to nominate a candidate who doesn't have blood, and unremorseful blood, up to his elbows.

The dems are going to make McCain and bush look like Saimese twins, joined at the clusterfuck. :o)

Gravatar Well, it's good to know that the mouth-breather contingent of the voting-eligible population is in fact 20% rather than 25%.

Gravatar 19%?

Holee molee. And that's down from 30% in the space of a week? And while he's touring around Africa?

It's almost too low to believe. Let's see a couple more before we take this one seriously.

But, man, to best Truman in the despised category -- that's some achievement.

Gravatar "I was kind of waiting for McCain to hold a presser and issue a disclaimer like:

Tanbark, I was thinking much the same thing.

But you know what? (And this is as good a place to discuss this particular issue as any...) I have to confess to being slightly puzzled when Bush came out to endorse McCain at all. We all know what kind of a person Bush is, how he holds grudges, the bottomless sense of entitlement, how incredibly thin-skinned he is, etc. I've often said I would have been willing to bet the little creep still hated McCain for daring to challenge him for the nomination in 2000, and that watching such an old rival twist in the wind now would have appealed to Bush's extremely ugly sense of...well, I can't say "humor", but, you know, what passes for humor with Bush.

And yet here Mr. 19% is, endorsing St. McStain of the 100 Years War. I have to wonder why. It certainly can't be that Bush knows his endorsement is likely to do more harm than good to McCain. I doubt he has that much self-awareness...

Gravatar tanbark: The dems are going to make McCain and bush look like Saimese twins, joined at the clusterfuck. :o)

yep, plenty of ads with The Hug, and they need to buy millions of bumperstickers saying:
Like Bush?
Vote McCain!

Gravatar "I've often said I would have been willing to bet the little creep still hated McCain for daring to challenge him for the nomination in 2000"

Agreed 110%

"And yet here Mr. 19% is, endorsing St. McStain of the 100 Years War. I have to wonder why."

Look at it this way: if St. McCain loses, W gets to enjoy his failure (per your first paragraph); if Gollum wins, W gets the equally distinct pleasure of watching him clean up and take the blame for the huge steaming pile of shit that Dumbya left behind. And in both cases, W can claim that he was being a good GOP team player for endorsing him, plus he gets the thrill of getting Gollum to embrace him, his hated tormenter (always a particular rush for sociopaths).

That's the kind of sick mindset at work here. Bush may not be self-aware or particularly bright, but he is a spiteful bully with a low cunning.

Gravatar Chimpeach!!!!!

Gravatar GayVet; That'll work. Lots of bumpersticker poetry coming down the pike, I do believe. :o)

Gravatar John D.;

it's like that little skit I put up a while back, of bush speaking out for McCain:

"After we got done ass-raping John in that 2000 South Cackalack primary, me'n Karl figured that would cool his jets for another run at the oval office, but who knew that after that month-long fist-fucking we gave him back then, he'd be ready for more. :o)
Plus, how am I gonna deny a man who's been giving me political prostate-gland massages with his tongue for 'lo, these many years, the endorsement for something that he wants so badly that he'd cut up his own mother for catfood, to get it.

So, John, it's all yours. Here's the Papal finger-wave. But if you can't run and win with the bodies of 4000 of our troops hanging around your neck, don't come whining to me. It's the old story: be careful; you might get what you ask for."

So, yeah, I think that bush finally decided to toss McCain a bone (not n the sexual sense, this time...:o)) and endorse him, if for no other reason that McCain is clearly signalling that he's not going to try to turn his back on bush's fucking-of-the-cluster, but instead, looks willing to appear before voters slathered in "sweet, light, crude" and body parts.

What's not to like, if you're the man who created it?

Gravatar Or; what ObamaTilDenver said. :o)

Gravatar I think 19% is still under the percentage of people that think Jesus will come during their lifetime. Bush is underperforming with his base- his immigration proposal probably killing it.
