Gravatar Nancy doesn't get IT. It's too late to "step in". That time has past. It's already a shit pie because of what Hillary has done here. She'll be lucky if I vote or even give a shit what happens on Saturday.

The legal ruling is they can seat only half the errant states' delegates, at most. Did it really take some genious to determine this now? The rules were the rules then, and this should have been out there from the start.

I would like to see someone taking it to the errant states for their bullfuckingshit victicmology after the fact. They should not be allowed even half their bogus votes. I mean these are simple rules. Not that hard to follow. Terrry Mcauliff said the same thing to them in 04, which makes any bullshit claims by clinton.... even more bullshiterist.

NO ONE, except the manipulations of a crazy lady and the intention of the pubs in fl. had a hand in this contrieved bullshit.

Why? Who does this benefit? The pubs. The pubs and hillary's victim army. This is some sick shit. One MORE divide to fight thanks to the clintons. fuckers.

:-|

Gravatar Aw, c'mon, Myrtle, don't hold back: Tell us how you really feel.

Too bad Pelosi couldn't have summoned some of that steely determination when it came to dealing with Little Boots and his out-of-control Executive Branch.

Gravatar Myrtle Hussein June, relax...
someone needs a spa visit.

we will survive this somehow and come out swinging! hang in there.

Gravatar Does anyone else feel like we've been told 'it will be resolved in a week (or two)' for about the past month?

What are the superdelegates waiting for? What sort of 'leadership' are they showing? did you hear about the super delegate in the Virgin Islands who changed from Hillary to Obama and then back to Hillary? What an ass. I doubt he'll be a super delegate again.

To cheer you up, why not enjoy the Nevada Republican party flat out subverting Ron Paul supporters at their state convention because the powers-that-be didn't find the results to their liking:

http://www.youtube.com/watch? v=5...feature=related

I'm still confident we'll win in November, but the Clintons sure are acting like entitled a-holes.

I wonder if Hillary will have her moving goalposts in tow at the convention?

Gravatar Well, in fairness to Florida, wasn't it the Republican-controlled state election commission that moved both primaries up? Not that it made any difference to McAuliffe then.

Gravatar Well, I think we need to grit our teeth and be optimistic one more time. Sure, Billy Joe, pundits have said repeatedly it's gonna be cleared up pretty soon. But this is the very first I recall any of the Big N of the party powerful getting specific about it.

Big N = Big 3, I'd say: there are 2 candidates, who don't count here, and 2 people in the presidential line of succession, and one chairman. For the first time, we're hearing something pretty determined from one of them, who is a prominent Clinton supporter. And really, Pelosi *can* be tough when she decides to; that's why we're so pissed about her squishiness concerning the Big Chimp. So it begins to sound like a backbone attack at the highest levels, and next week, hallelujah, we get a campaign against *Republicans*.

At least we can hope.

Yes we can?

Gravatar Pelosi made sure the two criminals in the White House weren't removed from office and thrown in the clink. She can go to hell.

And Hillary is just a caricature of herself at this point. She is twisted in more knots than can be counted. She will have to carefully untangle herself if she wants to even be effective in the Senate anymore.

Gravatar BJacques,

The Florida Dems had to go along with moving up the primary date because it was part of a legislative package put forward by the GOP-led goon squad in Tallahassee. You see, there's a reason the State Capitol in FL isn't viewed or photographed straight-on.

You have two domed legislative chambers flanking a tall office block. The phallic imagery is incredibly transparent, which begs the question of just how the hell the Governor and state back then could have approved the architecture.

But it's a beautiful symbol of what the FL Legislature does to its constituents.

Gravatar Wes Clark said this won't be over this weekend.

Now I'm listening to the former Pakistan lobbyist Lanny Davis talking about the superdelegates deciding this.

Gravatar Nancy who?

Gravatar A good decision, since the consequences for breaking party rules were so unclear. I know Hillary doesn't believe in consequences when they go against her interests, but sometimes that's how things are.

A bad precedent, though. If the Dems don't go to regional primaries in 4 years or establish clear punishments for breaking the rules, this is going to come back and bite them in the ass.

"Obama campaign manager David Plouffe told reporters that the senator from Illinois is prepared to forfeit a portion of his delegate lead, as part of a compromise to resolve the Florida and Michigan flap."

That's the exasperated grownups trying to placate a spoiled brat with an empty gesture. "If you'll be quiet for the rest of the afternoon and play nicely, we'll give you one cookie before dinner."

Oh, and if Obama offered up Hillary's potential assassination as a reason to stay in the race, do you think her campaign would be offering compromises to him at this point?

"House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says she will step in if necessary to make sure the presidential nomination fight between Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama does not reach the Democratic national convention - though she believes it could be resolved as early as next week."

That's our Nancy: a day late and a dollar short as usual. When this is over, the Dems need some real leadership in both the House and Senate.

Gravatar And a little something for the Clintons

Gravatar A good decision, since the consequences for breaking party rules were so unclear...

Ahem...

Under the rules passed by the Democratic National Committee, if Florida is not in compliance with the calendar it will automatically lose all 25 of its so-called super delegates — basically, elected officials and state party members — and at least half of its regular 185 delegates.

Clear as f*ckin' glass to me.

Granted, it was the Repub legislators that forced the move of the primary date, but those were the rules, and the Florida Democratic Party violated them and had to be punished. Or, of course, we could just ignore the rules and say fuck it when things don't turn out the way we'd like.

But then we'd be Republicans.

Gravatar the clintons will fight this too teh convention...if they don't get their way they will fight past the convention....she will tank teh democratic party in her attempts to win...my guess is that they think teh numbers are close enough to pull off a liberman style three way win.

Gravatar sweaterman atcualy loook at what happend in florida...yes the republicans preposed this, but every single dem voted with the repulbicans, the dem leader was laughing at the party makeign fun of the rules while he voted.

Gravatar I see the Stepfords have invaded this blog too. Sad.

To be clear: Obama fans are for letting Republicans game them in two states and not counting votes. Reason? Because Hillary wants them to count.

Just shoot me.

Gravatar "Pelosi predicted Wednesday that a presidential nominee will emerge in the week after the final Democratic primaries on June 3, but she said "I will step in"..."

-Ooohhh!
She "will step in"

BIG FUCKING DEAL!

You should have stepped in a long, long time ago.

Idiot.

Gravatar "I'm still confident we'll win in November, but the Clintons sure are acting like entitled a-holes."

-Even after Obama wraps this up (Democratic nomination), it would not surprise me if Bill & Hillary still found a way to pee in the punch bowl.

Gravatar danzig: nope, no invasoin here, we where all here from day 1....

Gravatar Myrtle June's PISSED! :o)

Gooood for her. :o)

Clinton and her idiot-child, McCauliffe, both signed off on the punishment for FlaMich way back when, at at time when she thought all she had to do was throw out her shoes, and the nomination was hers.

Now that her coronation process has turned into a bunch of Murdoch-and-Scaife-smooching republican-lite winos, drinking and pissing under an ovepass, she want to change the rules.

No.

"Victimology" is right. :o)

Fuck'm.

F-U-C-K-apostrophe-M!

Gravatar Sorry for the double; I'm pissed, too.

If this were any candidate BUT Hillary Clinton, the party would have told them to go shit in their hats. After the kind of campaign she's run, with it's Ph.D, in Roviana, and with her recent psycho-sleaze contingency-plan for staying in "just in case" haw-haw-haw, anyone who is STILL asking that she be handled like fine china, is shaving points for the republicans this fall.

John McCain is irrelevant; Hillary Clinton is, by a mile, the biggest threat to our success this fall.

It's firestorm time, dammit.

We need to run her ass back to her Senate seat, and get on with the business of making he republicans pay for what they (with Hillary's unspinnable help) have done to us.

Gravatar "Oh; and if Obama offered up Hillary's potential assassination as a reason to stay in the race, do you think her campaign would be offering a compromise to him at this point?"

Fuck no, she wouldn't.

And the point is, that the mainstream media, and most of the democratic party, slid that little piece of "I am SO perfect for this nomination that ANY means justifies the end of achieving that." republican crap.

Her entire campaign has reeked of this shit. And some of the so-called progressive blogs who were politically suicidal enough to want her for our nominee, are STILL trying to finagle her in, despite the sick logic she displayed in Sioux Falls.

In this election; so important; why can't we have someone who had the smarts and the courage, way back in November of 2002, to have spoken out against the loon-crusade at a time when the bushCo agit-prop campaign (with Hillary's assistance) was juggernauting the american people into supporting their bloody fuckup?

Is it too much to ask that the democrats tote up the picture of the support she's given the loon crusade, and how badly that would hamstring us, in the general; and that they look at the campaign she's she's run, and FINALLY, stop kissing her ass, and put together a kind of democratic Goldwater-firing-squad, to go to her and tell her how the hog ate the goddamn cabbage?

To extend ObamaTilDenver's question: if the situations were reversed, would Clinton and her supporters be as moderate and tolerant of Barack stringing this out, and DOING IT by sucking up to the peckerhead wing of the party, as he has been of her?

Again; hell no, they wouldn't. They would be foaming at the mouth.

Everytime she and Bill have tooted their "hard-working white people" dog-whistles, they were doing the work of the republicans.

When she got into her wretched can-some psycho help-me-out-here? bullshit up in South Dakota, it wasn't even a dog-whistle, it was a clarion call from a candidate whose mental processes are as distorted and twisted as are those of the man whose mayhem-opera she helped enable; and as her chances for the nomination sink, and the republican's chances for a close election sink with her, she articulated their, and her, last, best, hope. That is, assassination, for rescue from the political reckoning that she and the republicans so richly deserve.

To be specific, I am outraged that Jane Hamsher, and a few other "progressives" are warning that Hillary 's "exit" has to be carefully managed. I don't think we need to manage it at all. The first thing that needs to happen is for her to MAKE the damn exit. After that, we can talk about "managing" it, with some kissy-face from Obama, which he is ALREADY, and maybe prematurely, doing, when he said, with an equal mix of restraint and bullshit, that "she has waged a magnificent campaign".

Every time desperate-to-the-point-of-dementia Hillary supporters and apologists, whether in or out of the blog-closet, force Obama into speaking "unification" nonsense like this, it means that they are dragging both he, and the election, to the right.

And THAT, is a republican wet dream.

And the converse of that is this:

For them, losing Hillary Clinton to point to, is a nightmare.

It is past time to inflict that on them.

Gravatar *blush* True I AM pisssssssed. It IS firestorm time, as Tanbark says.

But, I think you're too generous here...dear Tanbark, "run her ass back to the Senate". Why not run her ass out of the party!!!! New Yorkers should be doing what ever steps it takes to remove her republican appeasing ass from office period. Connecticut should be doing the same for Lieberman.

The dnc has blown a perfect chance to turn what the pubs did regarding moving the vote to Florida. Have they not done enough to this country with their neocon appeasing ways? The democatic voters in FL and MI should be taking it to their elected officials in a big way.... in the courts..... to the Federal Elections Commission (such that it is), not at the DNC and especially not at Obama. Neither of the candidates should be involved with this at all.

The blame doesn't lie at the candidates' or the DNC's feet. AT ALL. Floridians need to set about electing real Democrats who would have fought the right battle with the pubs. The pubs are enjoying their little fuckery in florida just fine.... again. I don't know the circumstances in Michigan, but fuck them too.

The voters in both those states have some work to do to remove the republican appeasing/voter suppressing Dems and republicans from office.

So, yeah. I'm pissssssed. What a glob of goo this is.

We thought we'd be having a firestorm with the bushies..... who knew? *rolley eyes*

Mo butter, hold the salt

Gravatar every damm last one of the blue dog dems need to be booted from teh party...this ratehr disguesting remnate of souther dems need to be cast out. I truly hope that in the comming years we can mount primary cahlanges and oust every last DLC member from every national, state and local office. Tha includes hillary, shes DLC through and through.

thats what realy confuses me abotu some progresive blogs....they will hammer the DLC, they will call for the heads of the blue dogs, adn yet they happly support one of the founders of that group.

Gravatar "Under the rules passed by the Democratic National Committee, if Florida is not in compliance with the calendar it will automatically lose all 25 of its so-called super delegates — basically, elected officials and state party members — and at least half of its regular 185 delegates.

Fair enough, but the "at least" part left the fate of the regular delegates open to a round of lawyerball, the game the whole (Clinton) family can play. They could only get so far before they ran into that glass you mention, though.

Gravatar Danzig,

Did the FL and MI Democrats break clearly defined DNC rules, whether of their own volition or due to GOP hypnotism? Yes or no?

If yes, is the DNC allowed to punish them for breaking those rules? Yes or no?

If yes, is it becoming for one candidate's supporters to whine like babies because that punishment affects their candidate adversely? Yes or no?

Bonus question: Is it proper for a senior American politician to suggest that the potential assassination of an opponent is a good reason to stay in the race? Yes or no?

We look forward to your answers.

Gravatar And, fresh off the griddle, here's some more Hillary bullshit.

http://apnews.myway.com//article.../ D90VGECO1.html

She wants 73 of Michigan's delegates, and the rest to go into the convention, uncommitted.

Obama, who had the decency and the party loyalty to remove his name from the ballot, gets 0 delegates, going into the convention.

Who was that Obama staffer who called her "a monster""

Where IS that lady? I want to buy her dinner, and if I win the South Carolina lottery, a townhouse. :o)

And here's the rest of the story:

Hillary does NOT want this resolved before the convention. She wants to go into Denver with everything UNresolved, which would give she, and some psycho, one more chance to pull this out for her.

And, of course, that lack of resolution, as ever, is playing right into republican hands.

Al Gore, with your beautiful "green" dick in your hand, do you understand that?

(Where's the angryface when we need it?)

Gravatar By the way, FireDogLake wins the monthly award for the blogsite most studiously avoiding posting threads about the democratic nomination process.

HANDS DOWN! :o)

No such contest exists. :o0

Gravatar I just read that one too. Feh. It is crazy talk.... from a MI DNC member. Well, guess what. Since he caused this fucking mess, I'd just tell him, and all of them in both states, to go shit in his hat.

The.vote.was.not.legal.

This is like arguing to a policeman that the drug dealer sold you some bad shit. Sheeesh.

The apportionment of illegal votes is red herring alert level "flaming comet". In fact, the DNC should be litigating against the state party officials regarding voter disenfrancisement. The states should be apologizing to the rule-abiding states for their fuckery..... then they should grovel to the DNC.

TB - I'm not sure which is worse..... the deafening avoidence of the news of the news of the day..... "la la la I'm not listening" OR the insane posts like the "Moral Imperative" to give it to clinton at Talk Left OR the "How Dare You!" hillary fundraiser at huffpo. Its all been VERY interesting to watch for sure.

Hey, where's the "Support THE Candidate" spirit now? Obama within 44. Carville saying hillary can still win with the key words "poplular vote". Math lessons for all!
