Gator, I'd urge you, Hube, LM, Sara and all others at the GNB to ask AA to take you OFF their list as one of the chosen.
If any of you would goolge up and read about the HISTORY of AA, and who Mark Green and HIS investors are, you'll find yer being lauded by a NON progressive, who's using you for a false legitimacy amongst the progressive blogs.
Instead, I'd call NovaM and fuckin ask THEM if you could call into some of THEIR shows, as reps of GNB, and vent the progressive points of all things FUCKED UP with 30 years of the likes of Mark Green, and his support of money first, media consolidation, end of Fairness Doctrine, etc. THAT would be progressive. Instead, you fall for the right of centrist AA offer.
Ya know?
Cuz, having AA ask you on board for the week, is like being singled out by a kinder and gentler Goebbels to spread out the gospel of The Third Riech.
And you folks have played the Stooges in that horrible script. IT's worse than Springtime For Hitler, and none of you are Zero Mostel.
Yer better than this. At least I THOUGHT you were, in Gilley's name. Christ, even Drifty is lauding you for this non bonafide. And I let him know what I think, too.
I love you guys, but this is all wrong.
Reject it. Claim it, tell your readers yer really progressive. Tell us.
Tell us yer not Mark Green hacks for his money grubbing and NOT progressive look at life?
Tell AA to stick it where the sun don't shine.
I dare ya.
Tell us, the progressives who love you folks, that you won't use this to make the FDL pseudo leap to money generating ad dollars in here?
You CLAIM to be different.
This is the call out moment, and you've already failed to NOT ACCEPT AA's honor.
It pretty much defines what you are, and what you want to be. You have only ONE chance to refute their honor to you.
Will you?
Hmm?

Guys, larue is right. If you need a refresher course on why AA isn't the way to go as far as getting a progressive message out there is concerned, then I hope this link and this link help explain what larue was talking about.
SPOILER: The links describe the turnover of AA's most progressive voices, and their overall rightward drift.

AA was basicly steepljacked a few years back, the ownership has links to clear channel, they ahve been steadly pushing out all of their progresive talent.

Gilly used to speak on-air on AA on a regular basis.
This is well inside the tradition of who GNB is.
Part of what is necessary for Progressives to succeed, is for us to have our own media channels. Air America, for now anyway, remains one of those channels.
Sam Seder who is taking care of us, is a good guy. He used to have Gilly on his show.

I'm with you on the Seder angle, Jesse. He was onto Steve Gilliard early & brought him onto the evening show he did with Garofalo & he's been highlighting & talking to bloggers on his weekend show ever since -- that exposure brings eyeballs this way.
I'm not prepared to accept Randi Rhodes' assessment of Mark Green -- the animus is way too personal to trust totally -- but AA has made some really dumb moves in its day & has come to sound really insular & tepid as they reach for some kind of well-funded comfort zone.
The decision to run Rachel Maddow's appearance on MSNBC every day -- great idea: trade an hour of pure Maddow for a grand total of 3 minutes of her chirping out of NBC's frames -- speaks volumes for AA's faith in radio & regard for their audience. Frankly it speaks of the kind of deal-making that some have suspected as showing the network's not built to last.
But Sam Seder's been a real counterweight to that trend of late & I think he's just the kind of broadcaster GNB should support over at AA. He's certainly the last one who should be punished for whatever decisions the Green family's making.
... btw his weekend show's being cancelled so where he ends up next is anyone's guess.
