You spelled out very cogently how we fucked up Iraq. The only thing I would have added is how we further fucked up by trying to impose instant total privitization on a state-socialistic economy. I'm not criticizing the idea of making such a transition, because the Poles did it rather successfully. It's just that for such an endeavor to be successful, the people have to be ready to embrace the new way of doing things the way the people of Poland were. Of course, the neo-cons weren't interested in what was good for the Iraqi people. They were mainly interested in making the country ripe for plundering and pilfering by US corporate interests.
