I *loved* the first one, but this one made me uncomfortable. Too many platitudes and too much blatant hero-worship.
I think the difference is that in the first one, Obama's own powerful words spoke for themselves. His speech was allowed to roll on and build image upon image. Here, it's a bunch of "Hollywood" soundbites and name-chanting and not much else.

Barf. We're voting for President, not the winner of "American Idol". What snoozer said....

The "Obama" chanting in this one creeped me out, and celebs (except for Jessica Alba) leave me cold. But I'm not the target audience for this video, any more than I am for Hillary's moronic 3AM fearfest ad. What I can say, based on production values and clarity of message and main distribution channel, is which video is more likely to convert its intended viewers into voters.
It's also worth noting that, of the two videos, only one could be used effectively all the way through November. It might have been two, but Hillary assured us all that St. Grampa is up just as late waiting for calls on the Batphone as she is.

That is a pretty good representation of my neighborhood... if you exclude the celebrity status of those folks. I liked it and think it would appeal to a lot of people. A good guess is that your average Clintonista would be unable to identify who those people are... I've gotten a pretty low view of Clinton supporters lately while working with my local Democratic Party. They all seem to be either Party operatives or feminists of a certain age with a real chip on their shoulder. Your mileage may vary...

Glad to know I'm not the only one who had a negative reaction, but also glad to be reminded the ad may be effective within its target audience.

Obama has a very strong empowerment message that really speaks to this generation. I think that message gets muddled in this video under some sense of hero worship, but the real heroes are the ones that give us the ability to believe in ourselves.
When I look at these three candidates and I wonder which ones will fit into a very traditional mold of the Presidency(which I would even apply to the radical mode of Bush), Obama is the one that stands out as the one that is most likely to reform all the unConstitutional powers that office has accrued and build a powerful political movement that to legislate his agenda through the people and not through the ham-handed fist of the Executive.

Wengler, I am very encouraged by the fact that Obama is a Constitutional scholar. A good guess would be he would have a better respect for the document than either Clinton or McSame.

Moonglum, I liked it too and I'm 54...certainly a member of the DFH age group. I do hope that it plays well with the younger group as you mention, since we don't want them to sit this out...they've shown so far that they want this kind of message.

as a canuck, it ain't really any of my business but why is there not one politician in a position of leadership (or vying for leadership) that exceeds mediocre. obama's swell. he's attractive and gives good speech. hillary's a formidable intelligence and has experience with the machinery of state but neither one strikes me as being the best choice or even an especially good choice.
and it isn't just the states, up here in canada we have a veritable parade of mediocrity vs evil, milquetoasts against petty tyrants in the bush mold. i guess i just don't get why chris dodd didn't get the support of the net roots or the party or the population. you cats lost a great chance to have a superb presidential candidate when you gave dodd the cold shoulder. obama is an inspirational second best. hillary is the status quo with a hairdo. blah. all the chants and platitudes in the world, all the half baked celebrity cruft just don't make me confident that there will be substantive positive change.
i don't see anyone in the field of play that has the courage or will to change the course of state and reverse the damage done to liberty and common sense. i surely do hope i'm proven wrong.
