Gravatar Land of the free?

Gravatar Reid's voice-mailbox is full; 01/23/2008 7:25 p.m. CST.

Thanks, all!

Gravatar Reid is simply unbelievable.

Yeah, Nader was wrong on all counts...snicker.

Go Dodd!

Gravatar This is infuriating. Why the hell hasn't Reid been forcing the Republicans to do an actual filibuster on all of the occasions where they've threatened to throw a hissy fit if they didn't get their way?

What a sucker. Goddamn the Dem leadership is weak. What sort of goods does Bu$hCo have on them, anyway? I bet they've been spying on our representatives.

The Republican party is a borderline criminal operation; the Democratic party is simply broken. I don't anticipate giving the DSCC & the DCCC any money this year. I'm going to bypass their bullshit and go straight to the progressive groups & candidates.

Gravatar I will agree that the Republican Party is made up of criminals at the highest level, but not that the Democratic Party is broken. Giving money to progressive groups and candidates is exactly what we need to do to _build_ the Democratic Party.

Don't forget that just like our government, the political parties are designed to be of, by and for the people. If the Democratic Party doesn't seem to represent your values, it might be because you and enough of your friends are not directly involved in the enforcement of those values. When we walk into a meeting, learn how to get involved, and get enough of our friends to do the same, we effectively take over. At that point, we are the ones who help choose the candidates, and we are the ones who hold those candidates accountable to the platform that we develop.

When enough of our candidates are in Congress, they will be the ones who choose who the leadership of the DSCC and DCCC are, and that's when we'll really start getting something done.

Gravatar Chad: the democratic leadership is fundimentaly broken. they are republican enablers.

Gravatar I'm not arguing about that. But what I am saying is that the individuals who are in that Democratic leadership is up to us in the 2008 election.

Gravatar Chad,

Agreed. I do what I can. I'm somewaht involved with my local Democratic party. I try to register voters and I give (probably far too much) money to our crappy Leadership. But I've never been under the illusion that simply because we elect so-called Democrats that we'll be better off. We need to replace the LIEbermans, et al.

It can't happen soon enough, but I don't think I'm just sitting on my hands hoping that someone else will step into the breach and carry my load. I know I am (and we are) responsible for what's happening and (unlike 3 years ago - I'm late to the game), I'm doing what I can to stop the madness.

Gravatar Chad: the dem leadership is broken, they can stear teh money, adn game teh back end system (appointments, electoral votes, disctrict creation and what not). we are in toruble if the top end dems want to keep the republicans in power.

Gravatar "What a sucker. Goddamn the Dem leadership is weak. What sort of goods does Bu$hCo have on them, anyway? I bet they've been spying on our representatives."

Once again: This is not cowardice. It's complicity. Reid knows perfectly well what he's doing. The man is a traitor and he should be swinging from the nearest lamppost for it.

Gravatar Then we replace those top end dems.

Period.

Gravatar John D.: Once again: This is not cowardice. It's complicity. Reid knows perfectly well what he's doing. The man is a traitor and he should be swinging from the nearest lamppost for it.

the empire doesn't exist by ReThug support alone
