Gravatar I'm hoping the kids don't have a pet rabbit

Gravatar Something occurs to me; if he goes all the way, he just MIGHT be able to visit Africa, and say to some violent factions:

"Stop doing that."

And have them do it. :o)

Gravatar And, that's what he's bringing us...

a little hope.

Aint it awful. :o) :o) :o)

Good luck and God speed, Barack. A lot is riding with you.

Gravatar Ummmmmmmmmm .... Spaghetti god ..... [/Homer]

Gravatar I'm thinking: "Who brought these muhaf'king zombies to these muthaf'king tubes."

Oh, and a message for larry, taylor, and susan:

"I for one, welcome our new negro overlords."

remember when redstate and pajamarama-mediums were teh crazies on the intertubes?

Those were the good old days.

Gravatar Actually, it's good to know who the kooks on "our" side are so we can avoid their "advice" going forward. Sad to say, I now include Jerome Armstrong and Paul Krugman (who knew?!) in that category.

Gravatar Well, in Krugman's case, he does seem to have taken a walk back from the precipice more recently.

Jerome is the one I can't figure out actually. I always figured he was more pragmatic than what's gone on over at MyDD in recent months.

Gravatar Editorial in the FT today...

An Obama-Clinton dream ticket?

The news that Barack Obama had crossed the finishing line, had secured the Democratic nomination, and was thus quite likely the next president of the United States was slow to reach Hillary Clinton. While Mr Obama was telling his ecstatic supporters that “this is the moment” – did he even promise to lower the oceans? – Mrs Clinton was thanking her troops for her own historic victory (in the popular vote, correctly measured), explaining how they had made it possible, and asking their advice on what to do next, since she had noticed confusion in some quarters about who the winner really was.

Predictably, therefore, as the Democrats chose for the first time a black man to run for the White House – a historic moment, indeed – Mrs Clinton contrived to make herself the main story. She has also become the biggest test so far of Mr Obama’s ability to lead. How he deals with his disappointed rival and her avid followers over the coming days is the most important decision he has to make between now and the general election.

Mrs Clinton, it is widely understood, wishes to share the ticket – as number two, for the moment, but who knows what might happen between now and November? Petitions are being got up to secure that slot; Mr Obama is being prevailed upon to be magnanimous. He is undoubtedly capable of it. His own victory speech was wisely generous to Mrs Clinton. To defeat John McCain, he needs her supporters in his camp. For many in the party, the arithmetic of combining her support with his points irresistibly to an electoral alliance.

One can see their point, but it would be a mistake. Mr Obama’s need is real and the voting arithmetic somewhat persuasive. More of Mrs Clinton’s supporters would come round if she were the running-mate. But his claim to represent a new kind of politics would be compromised – and nobody gets out the Republican vote like a Clinton.

The clincher, though, is that Mrs Clinton seems psychologically incapable of serving as Mr Obama’s deputy – before or after the election. Her conduct this week proves it. She could have made it difficult for Mr Obama to refuse her the VP slot by delivering a gracious, unifying concession speech. Instead she declared herself the moral victor and the stronger candidate, occluded Mr Obama’s success, and set about demanding the vice-presidential nomination as of right. Now, if Mr Obama takes her on to the ticket, he will look weak; if he does not, he will offend her supporters. The second is regrettable, but much the lesser evil.

Gravatar What am I thinking about?

How the "Cult Of Obama" has destroyed rational thought/the idea of discourse on this blog. That's all. Such a shame.

Congratulations. You've now officially became a parody of yourself. Take the rest of the week off. You've earned it.

Gravatar we love u 2 sean, every blog needs a pet troll.

Gravatar What am I thinking about?

8 MORE YEARS!!! 8 MORE YEARS!!

*G*

And if Obama somehow falls and proves he can't cut it for us, then we impeach him, and get someone else who will fill the progressive agenda, end the endless Beltway Insider politics, and fight for a thriving middle class.

Life is simple. GoBama!

Harumph.

Gravatar Sean...is that really you Bloomie? Why don't you go crawl back under a rock?

Gravatar I saw Obama speak in FL and he sounded genuine when he talked about education issues and our kids' future. Since he has 2 young girls, I felt like he actually knows what's it like to worry about the uncertain future that a lot of kids are facing. It wasn't just lip service or empty campaign rhetoric.

Gravatar Well, I LOVE the way this family looks. To me, they really look like America....in all the very best ways possible. And I'm a white woman in my 50's.

I like the easy way that Obama has when he is standing in front of the crowd. I like the way he and Michelle seem to interact. That little gesture she gave him the other night at the podium was something beautiful....a sign between two people who really like each other.

And man, can he speak....after the past 7 plus years of a mumbling, incoherant idiot as the face of our country, what a refreshing change Obama will be.

Having Obama be the face that the rest of the world sees as our representative, I hope that will go a long, long way to heal the harm that has been done.

Gravatar Tanbark,

He had already appealed to a group in Nigeria to suspend the fighting and out of respect for him, they did.
Watch for the usual suspects to keep conflict going so that he can't go off of the military industrial complex reservation.
We need to call them out each and every time it happens too.

Michael and Obama will be great role models for the children in this country and I also can't wait to see her impact overseas! His too.

Gravatar i'm thinking about how i FINALLY feel patriotic... it's been a long time coming...

Gravatar Ceabird

LOL!

Jim,

They are quite a few people that we can't trust going forward.
They cannot claw back from the fringe.
Don't forget it either.

Gravatar "How the "Cult Of Obama" has destroyed rational thought/the idea of discourse on this blog. That's all. Such a shame."

Agreed. It's no place for a tro... for a thoughtful independent like yourself, any more than Obama should be your candidate (I'm thinking a Ron Paul write-in would be more your speed).

Don't let the door hit your faux peasant ass on the way out.

Gravatar its easy to understand Jerome..hes gettign paid.

the obama family seems great...it will be refreshing to have them as the first family, i jsut hope the presures of the position dosn't effect them too negitivly

Gravatar Obama is not the biggest threat to assholes like Sean (Bloomie?...:o) ).

What really freaks them out is that people are starting to believe that we just might be able to take back the country from george bush's corporate 4th Reich.

THAT is pantsload stuff for the warpimps. :o)

Gravatar Beyond the nice family, that man is brilliant. He ran a 21st Century campaign and surrounded himself with good people. He gives me hope that some smart folks might start working on our country's problems instead of venal, greedy, incompetent bastards like Sean.

Gravatar Cute overload indeed.

Gravatar One more thing: the girl in the middle -- the one in the black tank top? I think she's the first woman president.

Gravatar Beyond the nice family, that man is brilliant. He ran a 21st Century campaign and surrounded himself with good people.

Amuseinc: I would have been okay with Hillary as the nominee. Hard-working gal, does her homework, and her heart's in the right place. But every so often, she'd open her mouth and something would come out that just made you cringe.

Obama's never done that.

I know he does his homework too--I've never seen him unprepared. But the effort simply doesn't show, the way it does with everyone else (not just Mrs. C.) Obama's probably the coolest candidate for US national office ever.

Gravatar Nice thought, Jill.

Gravatar "the obama family seems great...it will be refreshing to have them as the first family, i jsut hope the presures of the position dosn't effect them too negitivly"

What, you didn't like the two wastrel party girl daughters and the heavily medicated Stepford wife?

Seriously, the pressures of the position are what they are. Michelle is smart enough to know what she's getting into, and it looks like a solid marriage built on more than political ambition.

The kids are 10 and 7 now, which means they should both be fine through the first term. The second term will be difficult for the older girl, though, and will probably leave the younger one with a weird perspective.

Gravatar "One more thing: the girl in the middle -- the one in the black tank top? I think she's the first woman president."

Definitely a nice thought. But the last thing we need is to start planning another White House dynasty.

Gravatar Mostly what I'm thinking of is Ran Prieur's reason for supporting Obama: We're heading for a hell of a collapse in the very near future, and Obama is the sort you want at the helm while society and the government are negotiating such a perilous course.

Gravatar "We're heading for a hell of a collapse in the very near future, and Obama is the sort you want at the helm while society and the government are negotiating such a perilous course."

Slight correction: we're already there. It's a slow-motion collapse, but it's been accelerating at an exponential rate with every passing month. It's really going to sink in this autumn, after China starts sinking into its post-Olympic economic hangover and after American drivers realize that those high summer gas prices ain't going down.

Obama needs to be honest (but positive) about these things now. To extend your metaphor, his first term is going to be all about patching up the Bush-scuttled ship of state in the middle of a massive Nor'easter. If the USS America can make it into 2012 reasonably intact, then Obama can start talking about where we go next.

And Dog help us if Cap'n McSame squeaks in. Instead of calling for us to batten down the hatches, he'll order full speed ahead ("and keep punching those holes in the hull, since they'll make us go faster!").

Gravatar OTn...the last 4 presidents at least have had higly disfunctional families...it would be very nice to have a normal lovign couple in the office...you know two peopel that actualy like each other and treat each otehr with respect as equals.

Gravatar Gorgeous family. Now let's put them in the White House.

Gravatar He gives me hope that some smart folks

Amuseinc,

Correct. He will surround himself with people exactly like this.

The bearded, no-profile 50-year-old lawyer’s central role in Obama’s likely nomination is emblematic of the depth of Obama’s preparation for the 2008 campaign.

Clinton may not have seen it coming, but it was the game for which Berman had been training for 25 years.

The delegate counter, for his part, declined to comment for this article, beyond providing bare biographical details.

Gravatar "He will surround himself with people exactly like this."

What, you mean quiet, low-profile super-competent people who are actually experts in their fields instead of drooling sycophants? People who are more interested in their work at hand than shaking hands and collecting awards and titles? People who aren't necessarily the offspring of a Party establishment grandee or major donor? People who can actually Get Things fucking Done?!

Oh Hell no. This is the Idiot America, the land of Brownie and Bremer, of Gonzo and Miers. This cannot be allowed to pass, if only to make sure that Peasant Sean and Rottenfuhrer serr8d don't cry.

Gravatar I can understand why you're jealous, serr8d, since the only family members still talking to you are your "brothers" in the Ernst Rohm Memorial Oil Wrestling and Sausage Packing Society.

Gravatar And serr8ted, does your little Photoshop document imply some sort of endorsement for Obama from your paperhanging one-balled all-time hero? If so, can we take it to mean that you endorse Obama?

Gravatar You people are truely delusional. Lay off the O-Aid. This thread is a case study on why the Dems shoot themselves in the foot. A word of advice for all of you....have human contact (outside of blogs) with people who disagree with you. Seriously, I'm trying to be of help
:-/

Fer chrissakes, you have already called the general election!!!! In the same way the MSM called it.

NICE JOB ROBOTS.

Gravatar Ahhh...sorry about your projection problem OTN. And, about that pshop...I guess the devil made me do it...

Gravatar "The Ernst Rohm oil-wrestling and sausage-packing society..."

Well, there's the morning endorphin-toast. Good shot, OTN. :o)

Gravatar Sean id love to have a real space talk with someone who has a dffrent point of view...I can't even find a republican around me that isn't pro obama....McCain is goign to get burried around here and I am in one of the redist areas of my state.
