Fuck.

Just fuck.

That's all I got.

Gravatar Rest in Peace, George.

God knows you tried to wake us up.

Gravatar dammit. that sucks. big time.

Gravatar Man, that hurts.

I'd say there were three people who helped me get through the angst-ridden years of my teens and twenties:

George Carlin
Kurt Vonnegut
Isaac Asimov

Things just got a little darker today.

Thanks, George. You were the best.

Gravatar oh fuck.

omg. he said it so right.... at the right time.

very sad to hear this. :-(

Gravatar Are those the seven words you can't say on the radio? Just checking....

Gravatar one more thing taken from us during the reign of king george...

Gravatar Damn, just now hearing about this.

He meant it all to me as a teenager the first time I SAW the Hippy Dippy Weather Man. And Then, I realized thru the years he was SO much more.

Not only was he one of us, he was our media mouthpiece.

Thanks Mr. Carlin, here's to more hi's and fewer lo's for you up there, and us down here . . .

Damn . . . this sure has been a fuckin sad shit week or so with fires, floods, friends burnt out in the Santa Cruz region, politics and now this . . .

Damn. Dawg Bless his ass and family too.

Thanks Hube, for bringing it to me . . .

Gravatar KNEW there was something extra pissin me off.

We lost U. Utah Phillips, just a week or so ago, too.
Another media voice for all us we the people.

These two were huge with their voices for us all.

Sigh.

Gravatar You beat me to it Hubris - R.I.P. George...

Gravatar RIP, Mr. Carlin, you made an enormous difference to a confused AA teenage girl, many years ago.

you have continued to inspire sharp thought, and to evince a kind of manic sweetness, a surety of purpose that only you could create.

I can only hope that Richard Pryor, Warren Zevon, Bill Hicks, and Hunter are somehow there with all of your loved ones. wherever you are.

Gravatar Couldn't sleep so I went to the 'net to read the NYTimes. And there was his picture on the front page...

I grew up watching him on TV. I saw him live only once -- at the Paramount Theatre in Peekskill.

Gonna miss him and his observations on life... aww, man, it sticks.

RIP George.

Gravatar Fuck. It is a sad, sad day indeed. One of the best, ever.

Gravatar Goodbye, George. You'll be missed.

Gravatar Let it rip, George:

Gravatar Aw DAMN!

That hurts.

Gravatar Boy, Carlin was really something...a pioneer in challenging the 1st Amendment with his Seven Dirty Words You Can't Say on Television riff.

He was very effective and funny as a curmungeon - not everybody can pull that off.

Another famous skit he was known for was "A Place for Your Stuff"...something like that.

He grew up on the block I lived on when I was a grad student at Columbia University...Morningside Heights.

RIP, George. I know you're laughing at all of these motherfuckers down there!

Gravatar I thought I felt a disturbance in the "force", now I know why. Rest in peace
George Carlin.

Gravatar I had to wake up this morning to see this.

Damn it.

He will be missed.

Gravatar Let me add a resounding and loving "FUCK!" to the chorus here. George gave us all hope that there's humor in everything and taught us all to laugh at the absurdities of life.

Here's to ye, lad!!

Gravatar Wanna see a George Carlin you didn't know was there? Rent "Prince of Tides," directed by Barbra Streisand (starring Streisand and Nick Nolte). She had the stones to cast Carlin as a gay New Yorker in Greenwich Village. His entrance was a complete surprise, and a sweet one.

Yeah, he saved my life in my teens, the 1970s, too.
