With all due respect to Mr. KFed, it actually appears that he has his shit together when it comes to his kids. Yes he's a cartoon who can't sing or rap or whatever. So what. Ms. Spears on the other hand wants to get drunk and high, wipe her ass with a borrowed $15,000 dress and have a couple of children as accessories.

Does not bode well for how these kids may well turn out.

Gravatar Add to your list at the bottom the likelihood that Britney has never been in control of her life. She was/is nothing more than a tool for wealth/ego gratification for her parents. Mom meet pimp and Britney meet ho. No amount of money, sex or dope can wipe away that reality. Not a healthy recipe for life. However, she has no excuse now if she wants to salvage what is left of her life. She can turn around if she wants to. IF she doesn't she has no one to blame but herself. Get a sponsor and follow the steps Britney.

Gravatar I don't understand what it is about the Rich and Famous and kids. Whether it's Mia Farrow, Angelina Jolie, Madonna, or Britney, these people seem to have the idea that children are the ultimate accessory, and I find that very, very strange.

Gravatar one thing i have seen over and over in the music industry is somebody strung out terribly and somewhere in the hallway is some asshole in a suit with a clipboard reminding everybody that "this junkie is making us tons of fucking money." then somebody tells the fable of the goose that laid the golden egg and they decide to hire a "show doctor" who will travel along and make sure that the star gets out on stage.

she's a totally fucked up kid that never had a chance to be a kid. we'll probably never know what she's capable of because flavors of the month never seem to last all that long.

Gravatar It seems that the rich and doofus have kids for much the same reason as some of my students do. Yes they are an emotional accessory. They get to experience the high of becoming a parent, the attention parenthood garners, and the notion that being parent will cure loneliness.

Gravatar That shot........with her shaven head and thick neck.......... I reckon she's a bloke. Might explain the behaviour also.

Now, if she was a Chelsea fan, I'd understand.

Gravatar There are people from every class, from welfare recipient to the super rich who think of children as accessories.
She's been raised to be a cash cow for her mother and all the other hangers-on. She's had no preparation for life at all. She's going to be the next Judy Garland.

Gravatar Thank Kālī it's just show business.

That's for sure. Can you imagine how awful it would be if, for example, someone with Britney's emotional difficutlties had somehow gotten into the presidency. (shudder) Too horrible to comprehend!

Gravatar she can make it if anyone really cares about her and if she decides to fix it. Look at Drew Barrymore.

Gravatar What The Buck waxes eloquent on Britney.

The best part is where he talks about what the former employee of Britney's said about her.

Gravatar This is one of the MOST progressive blogs I choose to read on a regular basis, and while this public affair of some cheap and tawdry entertainters may SEEM like a family affair to this blogs hosts, it's really just a bunch of SHIT to me.

Why, WHY would this blog even CARE about this upper crust 1% elitist crap even if it involves TEH KIDS OH TEH KIDS!

You got kids, I KNOW that if you told me!!

But I DON'T care about what you think about movie stars, the 1% and THEIR massive family fuckup's . . .

I care about how you take me to where we the OTHER FUCKING 99% get OUR fucking lives back!!!

Let the rest of the 1% rot in hell!!! Where they and their progeny belong.

You wanna be progressive? Seperate the division tween their eggs, and YOURS!

I'd LOVE to hear about YOUR children, your challenges, their successes. And so forth.

But by fucking Bhudda, yer giving sustanence to the enemy, you are.

Just like Congress.

Harumph.

Gravatar I feel sorry for her and I especially feel sorry for the 2 little kids.

Gravatar larue -

You don't have to read the threads that upset you.

Really, I'm not trying to be flip or rude.

I mean really. If the thread gets you this upset, don't read it.

No blog -- or for that matter -- no magazine or newspaper, at least not in my experience, of wide circulation, can possibly please everyone all of the time.

If we were pleasing everyone all of the time, I'd be upset with myself and the other bloggers for not taking enough risks with our writing.

I could tell give you ten different reasons why I choose to run one certain piece and don't run another. If you looked in my email box right now you'd see -- *goes and checks* -- 51 unopened emails each of them a potential post.

Everything from Myanmar's dead to NYC Surveillance to Torture to Restroom Hand Dryers, LolCats, a follow-up on Prison library books, Portland & Tokyo Food Blogging, the "Dawn" space mission, Mormon erotica, Ringtone Copyrights, Watches made out of Meteorites, and the Man Who Saved The World from a Nuclear War.

That's just some of my first page.

And what did I go with?

Britney Spears.

I don't regret it for a moment. What I regret is, I ran a post last night on Children of Bagdad and it still hasn't received a single comment. All anyone had to do was click on the photo of the 6 year-old boy and watch the film. Nope... But we've got 11 comments so far on Britney. I don't think this says anything bad about our readers. I think this says something interesting first, about how I set up the Children of Bagdad post, and how I should set up future such posts; they need a better hook.

Second, it tells me that in the world we live, people care about Britney Spears. Given that's so, I'm going to comment on it, and give people a chance to comment. Furthermore, I think it says something very powerful about the political system. It says money doesn't buy happiness. Anyone, forever, who thinks otherwise... Britney Spears, exhibit A.

Now I can't get you or anyone else to agree with me on any of this. But the beauty of blogging is, I don't need to.

You're really beloved around here larue. Your comments are terrific, you make great points, you're a valued member of GNB. But you don't have to contribute to every thread, and you certainly don't have to hang out where you get upset. I haven't been to LM's thread on that TV show about realistic medicine after injuries. Been there; done that. Got the scars and medals to show and fuck that happy horseshit.

I'm glad -- genuinely glad -- LM's got the thread open. Couldn't drag me in there short of a breakdown which truly needed my attention. In which case I'd put on my game face and go to work.

Just consider that not everything here has to be serious, and laughter is an enormously effective weapon. Plus... people are interested.

Best to you,

Gravatar I read this earlier today as it flashed on aol mail.... all day. The articles I have shoved in my face just to get a little free email. Sheesh.

All good points in the comments. Every step of her descent has been unavoidably served up to my eyes. Littlest Gator, good point. Britspear could most certainly turn it around and I hope she does. She absolutely IS on something and I wouldn't doubt at all that there's some prescription(s) involved as well. She's all over the map!

Considering the timing just after her second child, that perhaps there's some post partum depression thing happening as well. Maybe they should be testing that as well and addressing that with hormones, not antidepressants. I'm not offering an excuse at all, but really she sure acts like her hormones are wacked out. This is a serious condition that drives women to endanger their children and self medicate. Wondering if anyone had any thoughts on that?

Larue, I hear ya, but for every Brit there's hundreds or thousands of not so rich and not so famous young girls pretty much doing the same behaviors from the little dog accessory to the chilren as accessories to the lack of education to the party all the time on daddy's dime. These are the same people who will be making the laws in our golden years. *shudder*

Where are her parents? I don't think Britney is the only one guilty of child neglect here. She doesn't know how to be a parent because, well, who parented her? Ever? She has no clue who she is. Clearly, she needs some serious help here.

Gravatar Only Wally got it.

Read Jesse's bullet points at the bottom of the post.

This is only superficially about BS.

It is really about GEORGE W. FUCKING BUSH!!!

Gravatar "This is what happens to a kid when you:"

Look on the bright side. They could grow up to be Preznit

Gravatar A good little baptist republican virgin who loves bush. Didn't see that coming.

Gravatar ivan:

I got it, I just found it so obvious that it didn't really merit a comment.

Gravatar OT:

well on topic i guess, depending on what the topic is.

wow britny must have realy done something bad, the faterh, a male gettign custady...that jsut dosn't happen, she msut have been lighting the kids on fire or something...no wait that useualy isn't enough to take the kids away from a bat shit crazy mother.

there are a lot of things in this world where women get shafted over and over, family court, custady battles, well the fatehr adn the kids get shafted in favor of the women, it must be soem guilt base thign with the judges.

Gravatar Is Britney auditioning for the role of Lex Luthor in the next Superman film?

Gravatar >>I don't understand what it is about the Rich and Famous and kids. Whether it's Mia Farrow, Angelina Jolie, Madonna, or Britney, these people seem to have the idea that children are the ultimate accessory, and I find that very, very strange

I have a theory. I think they think it's because it's easier to control a child and shape them into something that loves you than it is to control everyone and everything else in your life. Note I said they THINK. Of the 3 you mentioned, only one has not done TRA (transracial adoption).

Gravatar While Britney has been a walking train wreck, I need to remind everyone on this board:

(a)She hooked up with a guy who left his eight months' pregnant lover for her. The fact that the man had no sense of responsibility to Shar Jackson should have been a RED FLAG to her.

(b)After hooking up with K-Fed, she hurried up to get herself pregnant, probably thinking she had to compete with Shar Jackson by giving K-Fed two more children that he will likely treat like his first two kids.

(c) Both Shar and Britney were K-Fed's MEAL TICKET. 'Nuff said.

You know things are bad when a judge considers K-Fed the better parent...:-p

Gravatar K-Fed's male machinations with the women in his life is a big issue for a lot of women. I really don't care. Men do what they can get away with. Britney is just as guilty for wanting someone else's man. Women do that shit to each other all the time and then hold men completely responsible. I don't think so. Takes 2 to tango.

At this point, meal ticket be damned, he is the better parent. Maybe not saying much, but Britney could have her kids back in a heartbeat if she would just pull her shit together. Or at least some of it. Then she can control the lives of her kids and leave this loser ex out there to fend for himself.

I disagree about kids as accessories. They're so much more than that. They are ego trips. In a society where the EGO reigns supreme, having a child is the biggest thrill for people needing a jolt to their egos. It's the one thing that people can hold up to everyone and declare: "See what I made! Ain't I just grand."

Which is why most people become disenchanted with their coming-of-age children. As individuals, their demon spawns, no longer flatter their ego and vanity at will.

Parenting is SO much more than an ego trip. And so much more rewarding for the parents who REALLY get that and their children.

The truth is, Britney just isn't very smart. Adding a drug problem on top of that to a person with a tremendous ego - well that's a real problem.

The kids are better off, for the time being, with their father.
