I'm so sick and tired of this bullshit phrase "tried to fire the town librarian." Everyone is using that phrase. Brian Ross used it in that report, then he contradicted himself. He was right the second time.
Ross at the beginning of his report: "As the mayor of the town Wasilla, Sarah Palin raised questions about removing books in the public library and then tried to fire the town librarian."
Ross, toward the end of his report: "A few weeks after the council meeting, the mayor fired the librarian, although she was reinstated after a community uproar."
Palin didn't try to fire the librarian. She fired the librarian. These are two different things. "Fired and reinstated" is not the same as "tried to fire."
If a Democrat fired a librarian, Ross would say the Democrat fired the librarian. But when a Republican fires a librarian, Ross says the Republican tried to fire the librarian.
Alas perhaps it has to get THAT bad before Americans smarten up. This election should not be this close.

Sarah Palin ran for Mayor for the single purpose of forwarding the crazy extremist beliefs of HER church. This is proof.
Q - spot on! She did fire the librarian and the librarian can't even bring herself to talk about it to this day! Those two years from when she was reinstated must have been pure hell for her. Sarah Palin is a bully, no question.

To date we all know:
1. She tried to use her influence as governor to have her ex brother-in law(the trooper) fired.
2. She fired or had someone fire an official who would not dismiss the trooper.
3. She inquired as to how to ban books in the local library--but apparently failed to actually attempt this fould deed.
4. She fired anthe librarian anyway but reinstated her after an outcry from the community.
5. She was an enthusiastic supporter of the infamous Bridge to Nowhere project..But when Congress withdrew the funding she was against the idea.
6. Since funds for the project had already been tranferred to the State of Alaska she did not return the mmoney to the Feds. Rather, she EMBEZZLED or misappropriated it to use it on other pork and pets. Anyway you slice the actr was illegal.
7. She and hubby Todd supported a movement designed to remove Alaska as part of the United States. It all sounds like one of those hate-amerika-fuck-the-guvmint-bomb-a-building groups in Idaho and Montana.
8. She suddenly arrives on the national scene as an unvetted candidate for the Vice Presidency. Along with her presence she brings an inordinate amount of brassiness, arrogance and certainty that everything about The Big McNasty and the GOP is just God's will for America.
9. Everything about this person screams LOOK AT ME!!! Her control freakishness, slick tongued lies, her self-righteous and uninformed and over-the-top criticism of everything she disagrees sounds exactly like an out of control and impulsive narcissistic individual.
Fer chrissakes, beating up on a LIBRARIAN? What kind of mindless, heartless, soulless megalomaniac would do THAT??
Next they'll be telling us she ordered innocent animals to be shot from airplanes. Oh, wait.....
Regarding the Palin/"Barracuda" kerfuffle (I haven't seen this reported anywhere online yet): I went to see the Cheap Trick/Heart/Journey bill at the DTE Energy Theatre (formerly Pine Knob) outside Detroit last night. I can't stand Journey, but was looking forward to seeing CT and Heart. So traffic was a nightmare, and I missed Cheap Trick. Bummer. I got to my seat just in time to see Heart telling the audience they wouldn't play because they've received DEATH THREATS for asking Sarah Palin to stop using "Barracuda". So thanks to her, I had to sit through 2 1/2 hours of Journey instead of just one. This is PERSONAL for me now. Grrrrrrrrr.
I heard about the Heart thing. Good for them. Hope they file a fucking lawsuit.
e--I believe they've sent out a cease-and-desist letter, which may or may not be the opening volley in a forthcoming legal war...we'll see.

However, I must retract the incorrect report I got regarding why Heart didn't play. I couldn't understand what Nancy Wilson was telling the crowd; the mike sound is really bad there. I heard some people talking about some death threats Heart received from wingnuts and assumed that was why they weren't playing. According to their website Ann had a very bad cold and was advised not to perform. Of course the stress caused by Palin's crass "fuck you, I'm still gonna use your song" could have contributed to it, so I blame her anyway. Even Reagan didn't pull that shit with Bruce Springsteen. It's a level of infantile shit-flinging we haven't even seen from Bush. And clueless, considering "Barracuda" is a smackdown of corporate assholes like Palin.
Give me a break people. Somebody gets in office and asks a question. From what I hear librarians are pretty huffy if you ask them to remove porn from the library. That's what happened in Los Angeles anyway. She didn't even ask to have the books removed...she just asked if it could be done. The Librarian said no. The matter was dropped. But the librarian is still having fits about it to this day. She was probably having fits about it then too and thats why she was fired. Oh yeah... and because she was outright campaigning for Palin's opponent. And lets see.... she tried to have the trooper fired for making threats against her and her family. The guy is charged with keeping the public and the public officials safe. The guy is armed. He was seen driving drunk in his squad car. He says he never said it. Oh... the guy has been married and divorced 4 times since then. Don't think he ever did anything like that? He self admittedly tasered his 9 year old stepson. Oh yeah... and she did not support having Alaska removed from the union. That was a lie. Although I wouldn't blame her if she did. I often think California should secede and trade avocados for oil.
Hey folks- I did a little more reading. I take back what I said about the librarian. She sounds stand up. The librarian doesn't talk about it because she and palin came to an understanding. Thats why she still had her job. Palin doesn't fire her... the librarian stops talking badly about her behind her back. Sounds fair. I fired an employee once who was undermining my authority too! Best move I ever made!
