Jesse - thank you for honoring Lurch. He did amazing work and covered Iraq with a very human insight and sympathy for both Iraqis and US soldiers - all while upholding a tradition of honor sadly lacking with today's leadership.
He was also a charming and sweet friend to those of us who got to know him and he will be so missed.

I miss him very much. As Siun says, he was a charming and sweet friend. Dignified, respectful, caring and gruff--all the things I like in a man.

Lurch was one of my first readers. He practically introduced me to the larger blog community. A shame that it was too late for me to tell him I was all right. I know he worried. We'll all miss him.
