I got suckered by the "It's not me, guys" comment, but if Barack is cool with Joe, it's all good, as far as I'm concerned.

I am guessing romney too. And I am eager for the news cycle where we get to talk about the number of houses they have between them...

At least it wasn't Clinton. I didn't think he was corrupt and stupid enough to do that, but these days, you never know.
And, no mistake about it; this election is ABOUT Obama. Barring the unspeakable, the vp will not be that relevant. Biden could fill the role of attack dog, and then disappear, and that is prolly just what he should do.
Of Obama, coming from nowhere to take the nomination was impressive to put it mildly. I just want him to remember that he got here because of his courage in speaking the truth about bushCo, and to keep doing it.
BlueTex at FDL made a good point when he noted that the meme at Kerry's convention was to not "go negative", and the next week, at the GOP convention they "proceeded to tear Kerry's face off." and, as we know, won the election by doing it.
Lesson there?

I think Obama picked Biden for a number of reasons.
1. Attack dog. Biden is good and FUNNY on attack. He completely de-pantsed Rudy with "Add a noun, a verb and 911 and you've got his entire campaign." OUCH. Expect him to do the same with the McCain crowd. He'll wait for McCain to hand him the ammo (like not knowing how many houses he owns), and then fire zingers.
2. Experience. Having Biden as Veep shuts up the concern trolls.
3. Biden is expected to yell at Obama in private. This speaks volumes about Obama--he wants someone as veep who will tell him what he NEEDS to hear, not what he wants to hear. This is key for any good leader and speaks well of Obama. It gets at the "bubble" problem that is the entire Bush administration and plauged Clinton to some extent.
4. I really like that the Obama campaign managed to stay mum on this for as long as they did (and Biden did too--which is a major shock). This is the best team in history on message discipline. I also enjoyed the MSM looking pretty helpless and whinny. Maybe now they can do some serious investigative journalism instead lapping up selected leaked nuggets to hype endlessly.....NAH!!! They're too synchophantic and lazy.

Kudos to the Obama Campaign for manging this so effectively. The process was kept so covert and quiet (great discipline) that the MSM and Chattering Classes were practically turning on themselves in a savage feeding frenzy that gladdened my heart.

What brat said. And what YOU said, Jesse. I can't decide what I feel more -- happy about this pick, or utterly bewildered that I'm happy about the selection of Senator MBNA.

What? Why not go to the source and grab Neil Kinnock? Plagiarist, wholly owned joint subsidiary of MNBA and Dow, and author of the draconian Bankruptcy bill. Obama just threw away the economic issue.

Sorry, Jesse, you totally lost me on this one. The Sen. from MBNA has a couple of vulnerablities that the GOP can use to their benefit. Yes, I agree - the choice could have been much worse but I think another choice could have been much better and covered a wider swath of voters. There's no guaratee that Biden can deliver voters anywhere other than PA. & MD.
He's an attack dog and I love that. He has foreign policy creds and that's good. But then, why not make him Sec. of State? And how can he POSSIBLY fit into the theme of "change" which, I think, is essential to Obama winning.
Having said this, I'm definately voting the straight Dem. ticket come Nov.

biden will eat romney's ass, and do it with a smile. he didn't have to fend off the "plagarism" charges (which, by the way, have already started rolling) during the primary because he has tape of him making the notorious "kinnock" speech, citing kinnock many times.
he forgot that time, the cameras were rolling, and the republican smear machine manufactured another "factoid."
bring that shit on mcCain. soon's you do we'll be talking about plagarizing your position on russia/georgia from wikifuckingpedia and plagarizing your "cross in the dirt" bullshit from the script of "quo vadis." (ok, ok, in "quo vadis" the thing in the dirt was a fish, not a cross, but hey, anybody who has ever cribbed a college paper knows you have to change some little shit to have any hope of flying)
bring that shit on.

Jesse:
You were right to capitalize the word "attack". Pat Lang has weighed in. He was on Ground Zero of a Biden barrage about a dozen years ago, and he recalls that it wasn't fun.
Biden is a fighter, and a screamer
If Obama was looking for a heat-seeking missile with the outward and visible form of a Senator, he could not have made a better choice.
